Evidence Found for Undiscovered Comet That May Threaten Earth

A surprise meteor shower spotted in February might be caused by a comet that passed near earth unobserved.

The meteor shower passed through earth atmosphere and might be a long period comet that orbit the sun.

because its not been directly seen its hard to judge where the comet is just by the meteor shower or when it will pass again.

Very interesting this reminds me of the time in 2009 or 2010 when a comet passed closer to us than the moon and scientist only discovered it when it passed, I have a lot of faith in science but it just goes to show the vastness of space in our immediate vicinity makes it extremely hard to spot things even when they are in our back yard...

Yea it is weird how today's technology cannot succesfully scan for incoming treats (or they? don't want them to be found). Who the heck knows, maybe right now we have an incoming asterioid/comet in our close proximity!

The problem is imagine the surface of our planet we dont even have the technology to monitor every square inch in real time all the time, imagine all the deserts and the seas the alps, america you would need a million satellites permanently fixed on 1 spot scanning 24/7.

If you expand the earth and imagine you are now going into space the "surface" area doubles, triples, quadruples the further out you go, with our technology it is currently impossible we would need a super computer to scan and track all this data in real time and that's why we miss things probably more often than you think, there has probably been comets that have passed that we never noticed at all...

Apparently they CAN scan for threats and it seems looking at this image there's even an escape plan or something

Of course they can scan but my point is they cant scan everywhere all the time and that pic you have posted...

I guess there would be 100's, if not 1000's of Comets/Asteroids that would be a threat to the Earth that have not been discovered.

Hmm. I grabbed that image a while back in May from a server with concept presentations.

I wonder why wikipedia states
"Path of risk where 99942 Apophis may impact Earth in 2036."

And my image has 2017, why would Russia or anyone else invest money in that project then ?
