I was watching the excellent History Channel documentary "The Reich: The Rise" tonight, when they showed a crowd scene where a little boy was sitting on his dad's shoulders waving at the marching Nazis. I noticed a woman holding up a small, thin black reflective object that looks exactly like an I-phone. Now, I'm not threorizing that someone went back in time and took a video of a Nazi parade on their I phone in 1930, but I am very curious to figure out exactly what I did see.

I have linked the video, the object in question appears at the 14:25 mark.

Any guesses what it may be?

If you pause it at exactly 14:25, there are two other people in the crowd also holding something similar up in the air. So whatever it is, more than one person had it.

Did she say "can you hear me now"? If so it was a verizon commercial.. Joking. I cant really watch the clip right now on my phone but could it be a makeup case? Im just thinking of objects that women had back then that look like an iphones.

Waving a make-up case in the air ? Reminds me of the Time Agents in Doctor who, Jack Harkness went to the past for fun anybody. To me it looks like a recording device.

No recording devices were that small in those days. Cassettes hadn't even been invented yet. The only tapes that existed were reel to reel, which were very cumbersome to use.

Do you want to go back in time and witness a Nazi Parade in 1930's Germany? There's an App for that

It's in the Gray area for god sakes! It could be a time traveler for that matter, by the way things are going this year I don't know sht anymore! I know recording devices weren't invented back then! If Jesus walked in front of you, y'all probably shoot him or drink his blood.

i think it would be thicker, but then how many would want the SS? Himmler, Eichmann, Mengele, Goebbels, and Hess? Hitler was it and one page was enough for that one, but just think if you had all the names in a book of the Reich members leaders and the top brass what would that be worth today. and how big that would have to be.

Yep, that's exactly what it is, that's the first think I thought when I paused it. People still do this today at concerts and parades, its also done with phones these days too. Oh, and German film tech was fairly advanced, if you watch Tue whole series of the Reich you'll notice a man in one scene holding a video recorder about the size of his fist.

You guys do know that 90 % of modern tech was reverse engineered from German tech. Yes, we've come a long way since then but in Nazi Germany it wasn't uncommon for a family to own a video recorder of about this size much like our families do now. Size hasn't really changed much.
