At least 13 people were killed and 84 injured in the city of Sammara from attacks by US fighters. The US military states that it killed 50 insurgents
during the strikes which occurred after midnight on Friday. Sammara was pounded by 230kg bombs that were meant to stop the weapons suppliers operating
out of the area.

Samarra is located about 60 miles from Baghdad and is considered to be part of the Sunni Triangle region that is known for its volatility. The city
of Samarra has a population of around 200,000 people. Over 43 homes and buildings were destroyed in the attack.
