Collapse/Reinstate Government

America. Going downhill. Been going downhill for a while now. Looks as though it may stop going downhill soon, simply because, America may no longer exist. If America reaches the debt limit, and can no longer spend money and pay bills, does America Fall? Will America get Evicted such as you or I would for not paying rent? What if the Government decided,"Hey, lets just not be America anymore. Lets become, the...United Socialist Union.". And the new government would be Socialist. Would this make all the Debt go away? If America no longer exists, can American debt to other Countries Exist?

If that is true, maybe thats been a plan all along. Simply crash the government by overspending, than instantly reinstate a new government as a new country.

(I realized, this may not be a conspiracy now that I actually read it lol.More of an idea.)

I have always thought that if the federal government and in all its wisdom continues to create all these blanket laws that the states have to abide by then what is the point of calling us The United States of America. Why not The State of America. Why not just do away with each individual state, the blanket laws are taking away the individuality of the states, which was the intention to begin with. If the federal government wants these blanket laws, then lets just have one big ass state, having 50 is an accounting nightmare, especially if the states are all the same.

Like the largest of trees our country has been rotting from within for over a century.

It is time to uproot the corrupted diseased tree and plant a new one with healthy branches.

That is an excellent observation. I, for one, would like nothing m,ore than to see Texas become it's own nation. I have read that we are one of the few states with possibly enough natural, financial, and other resources to survive and if we were to secede, I have no doubt whatsoever it would embolden others to take steps in that direction. Hopefully it would create a sense of urgency as well as responsibility.

So, the natural extension of this thread: I have an eleven year old. Politically, what type of world will he grow up in? Assuming our species will not self destruct, will we be forced into submission or forced into rebellion? Could we possibly survive as is or close to it? What other countries are likely to disappear or be created before he turns 20, 40, or 50? I also have a 28 year old daughter who lives a frantic and stressful life in D.C. As cruel as it may sound to some, if we were to have a nuclear war at least I don't have to worry about her suffering as she would likely be one of the first to go. But is she in danger simply because of the political climate as well? Will she experience civil war to the point of violence against the innocent?

Forgive my rambling, but these are things my family have openly discussed for years and I would love outside input and there is no better place than ATS!! Thanks,---Sam

I can agree with your stance that you think your state has enough natural resources to sustain a way of living. Though, I have to ask, does Texas really have enough water to sustain it's people? I don't know and it's simply a question I pose. From my visit it Texas, which I admit was when I was ten, it seemed to me to be a very dry state, and I did live only 30 miles or so from the Mexican border and the Rio Grande river was nearby. I remember it as being dirty and there were shacks along side it's banks where people lived.

On a positive note, I remember the orange orchards and the grapefruit orchards everywhere...and if you were near the Gulf of Mexico you could certainly fish for fresh seafood.

I have children as well,from the ages of 21, 16 and 10 and I would hope. beyond measure, that they would grow up in a united states of America, as we have in the past, and be helpful to one another. I doubt your kids and mine are really so disimiliar. Why be divided?

Agreed. By far the preference is to see them all grow and live in a "United" States. I suspect it may not be realistic to think that possible, however, unless our government comes to its senses and passes some rationally thought out budgets, laws, etc and provides a means to see them through. Again, I would want that more than almost anything for all our kids if possible.

As far as Texas and its resources, I would never claim we are faultless or completely capable of full autonomy. We do have almost everything here. Snow on one side and heat waves on the other. Very wealthy and very poor. Water and barren landscape. An acquaintance was recently asked where she kept her horse while at work, and she was convinced it was a serious inquiry. While thinking about it, if slavery had still been abolished perhaps as part of the deal, how would the two distinct nations of North United States of America and South United States of America compare to what we have today? I want to be clear I do not nor would not advocate for a split across the Mason Dixon then or now, but I fear we may be unwillingly headed towards some similar result in the not too distant future.
