Love the M1a/M14! The bigger bullet is worth humping in my opinion. It shoots effectively farther out than I can see. Though I love the iron sights (maybe best ever), I'd like a long range scope on it.

That long range capability though, directly impinges (no pun intended) on my CQB capability. What's the answer to that? If you mount an ACOG to one of LarRue's pivot mounts, does that solve the problem or cause more?

The m-14 is nice for the longer shots and close. If you want to reach out and spank someone at 200 yards or closer, you cannot beat the .458 socom. I bought one and handload ammo for it. You can buy the 250 grain hollowpoints and cut hardened hex wrenches and JB weld them into the ammo. DEVISTATING. Yes the M-14 will out shoot the .458 at a distance, but for Urban warfare, the .458 socom is unmatched. Yes the BEOWOLF is wicked too, but the .458 is actally better.
