Hi all this is my first post and need some help actually,

(I know this is long so sorry in advanced)

Everyone here seems to be somewhat or very political so here's a thing I have been meaning to ask people. I just have no idea where to place myself on the political scale. My beliefs are all over the place and can't really seem to find a place. Please don't just say I am crazy because that's not really what I am asking here.

I am a full blown conspiracy theorist. I believe in Military and gov't cover ups especially concerning Rosewell, UFOs, and perhaps Area 51, although I hear its been deserted now. I believe that Bush went into Iraq solely for oil and that Al-Qaeda is probably a made up thing. I find certain strange things about the 9/11 incident, and the moon landing. I believe that the bankers and the wall streeters are in control of 95% of the world's money (Which they are). The Federal Reserve is an illegal institution made against the wishes of the founding fathers so that the greedy rich old money families like Rothchilds and the Rockefeller's could maintain their wealth and power over the common people. I believe in a limited government and that the money should go back into control of the people. Oh and sorry PETA people and Vegans, if Cows and Chickens didn't taste so good, they would be extinct!!!!! While this belief in government and the economy seem very far right, I have far left beliefs as well.

I believe that people should be allowed to choose who they marry no matter which gender. I don't care what the gays do behind closed doors. Some of them are really nice and cool people! I am agnostic that is I believe in a higher power but believe that most religions were man-made and fighting over the stupid mythologies is just pointless and ridiculous. Talking to an invisible man in the sky?? Come on! I believe that a woman should choose weather or not to get rid of her baby when she's pregnant. Why have a child when you know you can't support it? Why have a child that is a product of rape? That child will remind you of it for the rest of your life!

The education and scientific communities in our nation, are horrible when stacked against others and this is because when republicans need money, they cut from these areas. This to me makes no sense, but then when democrats scream that we need to spend more money so that we can pay off our debt?! What? yeah that makes sense! I also believe that Al Gore (who is not a scientist) made up the whole global warming cause by mankind thing to get us afraid about the future and to support his going green agenda!

2008 was my first election, and nope, didn't vote for anybody!!! I am hesitant to vote in this election as well. I got yelled at from both sides because I, "wasted my vote." WTH? Why vote for people that don't impress me! You probably won't find a more unbias person when it comes to voting. I look at all the issues, on both sides. But none have impressed me to date. I am registered independent but there are really no strong leaders in that area so I have to be forced to choose between these two ridiculous parties who won't really implement real change! and who argue about the most illogical S--t one can think of!

Am I really crazy? Please help me determine which side (if any) I fall upon.

Can Common sense exist in politics these days? Or am I just over thinking everything?

Why must you place yourself somewhere on a political spectrum? Don't buy into the idea that you're either liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican. Don't add to the separation and division.

I support universal healthcare, firearm ownership, gay marriage, closed borders and abortion. There's no possible way I can place myself on a political spectrum. Throw away the political spectrum. Be who YOU are, not some construct cast down from the powers that be, and speak to each individual issue. That's what I do.

Welcome to ATS.

I'm all over the board when it comes to my political beliefs as well. "Liberal" and "Conservative" are buzz words meant to put people at odds against one another.

Considering and believing philosophies or ideas from multiple "schools" of thought means only that you are thinking critically, because no single party or religion has it perfect.

Thanx everyone for the input. I guess I shouldn't place myself in any category lolz.

Read. Read a lot.... Not just the campaign literature, but read about political ideas and find the ones that you like or that convince you that they work, and then look for candidates who espouse those ideals, if they exist.

PETA, gay marriage, abortion and the like are hot button issues and shouldn't determine anything for anyone.

Keep in mind that Democrats and Republicans are not the only two political "ideologies" out there.

And while you may feel that voting for a third party is like a drop in the bucket...well, enough drops and the bucket gets full, right? Plus, if you weren't going to vote for either of the mainstreamers, then what does it matter?

oh trust me, I read everything from both sides, that's what I was saying.

The problem with a third party for me, is that I think they are too small to count. If the main people don't support my views than its highly unlikely anybody else will lolz. So, I'm guessing I'm probably not going to be voting for the next election either.

I was talking along the lines of liberal and conservative. I don't know what category i fall under either. I think I'm more right and more republican, but then I took a poll online to try to figure it out, and they said I was a left wing fascist. But that test didn't ask about government or conspiracies it only talked about philosophical issues, which I don't really focus on when I vote. People have different beliefs and they won't always be the same as yours. I've come to accept that and that's not my main concern. I might lean more towards the right when I look at issues but a lot of the right are WAY too extreme and religious for me. I am also truly bisexual so i don't think that would fair well on the right side lolz!

I don't wanna say I am moderate because I'm definitely not, I have strong beliefs on every issue.

No offense, but don't you find what you are saying to be contradictory?

Because your vote won't count (in your opinion) you will not vote. But, by not voting at all, it is guaranteed that your vote will not count.

Like I said, even if it's a drop in the bucket, the bucket will fill up eventually. You gotta start somewhere. I have this argument with my friends who are disenchanted with the Democratic party. I would have it with my friends who are Republicans, but it's hard to have conversations with them as it usually descends into a shouting match. That's your Fox News Neurolinguistic programming for you, I guess.

Ohhhhhh...
In that case, forget what I said...maybe you shouldn't vote then. (just kidding)

I'm not sure that "conspiracies" should inform your voting, per se.

Again, "right" / "conservative" / "republican" and "left" / "liberal" / "democrat" are a very misleading dichotomy in the US. I would say that you need to read beyond those labels. In other words, when I say "read" I don't mean Ann Coulter or whoever her Democratic equivalent is. Being a moderate, again, is just a cozy way of saying you are not a dyed in the wool republican or democrat, but that just means you are not accepting those labels anyway. What I mean is, moderate is just a term here in the US to oppose the so-called "extremism" of our false polar opposites.

I was just saying that no parties really reflect, what I believe, but I haven't really done much research into the minority parties, maybe if i get desperate enough to vote, I will check them out.

See how confusing and sometimes contradictory my political views are, this is the problem I face everyday. I have conversations with my dad's side of the family who are hard-core (some tea party) republicans and what they say makes sense about the small limited gov't stuff. And then I talk to my mom's side which are pretty much democrats and Hippies and what they talk about makes sense about America's pointless wars and gay marriage and all those issues on the left.

I guess I got the best of both worlds there. Maybe politics is genetic.

By extreme i mean my religious beliefs are extreme to those on the right, and my government and economic beliefs are extreme to those on the left.
