Here is a substance classed Schedule 1 - no medical use and has strong indications of a vast effectiveness in two poorly treated conditions.
depression and cluster/migraine headache.
The drug is psilocin, the active substance in several mushroom species called hallucinogenic.
In depression this link provide evidence of significant positve response of lasting effect with psilocin

Clearly it seems that research into psilocin may be much more productive than the continued failed SSRI model? I suggest the patentability of the
natural product is the issue which thwarts even most research.
A second example of medical effectiveness is in cluster and migraine headache which for the most severe no present effective medical option is
available.

Again a solid indication of medicinal effectiveness.
My assertion is that the Schedule 1 class of drug substances is a hedge for pharmaceutical comapnies who cannot reproduce the effectiveness of the
proscribed substance.
