Most-Hated Companies in America

www.examiner.com

The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) has been released for the first-half of 2011, and Americans still have many complaints about many of the companies that they deal with in their daily lives. Many airlines and other companies with few alternative choices rate among the worst.

The airlines in the U.S. are still the companies Americans love to hate most. Having recently traveled by air, I had a most pleasant trip - both ways. It seems the airlines are trying to do a good job in spite of the latest rules and regulations handed down by the government. How can they get rid of the negativity amongst the masses?

I think at this point, the only thing the airlines can do to help is to privatize their security like it used to be... Aside from that... Not much.

That said, last time I flew, it was not bad at all. Of course I flew through two smaller airports...

But the TSA gave us no real problems. Though they did stop two of the women I was with for the enhanced pat down.... It took all of 15 seconds for each of them... They didn't seem to mind at all.

Just wanted to say that quickly.

I would like to add AT&T to that list. A company with as bad of customer service, dishonest representatives, and unhelpful technicians deserves to be there. I may be biased though, paying $29.95 a month for dial-up internet service compared to the $15.95 DSL plan which isn't available where I live. But, that's a story for another thread.

If you actually look at the statistics themselves you will find that nearly every category has improved several percentage points in the last few years, including the airlines. Most of them are in the high 70's or even 80's in numbers. It;s just that airlines are relatively low and Delta has slipped the most. Here's the actual chart.

From the article, here are the top 5:

2. Delta Airlines,
the airlines that collected twice as many baggage fees from customers as any other major airlines.

3. Time Warner Cable,
the communications company that has made numerous consumer-irritating errors including the broadcast of porno on a children’s channel.

4. COMCASTt,
