Hospitals in New Jersey are being warned that they could be victims of a "secondary terror attack." Officials state that an attack on a hospital shortly after a main attack would mean that the hospital would be crippled, unable to treat victims of the previous attack. Hospital staff are devising new security measures to keep employees and patients safe.

Counter-terrorism officials have warned New Jersey hospitals that they themselves could become targets of terrorists in the minutes after a large-scale attack.

By becoming "secondary targets," the hospitals would be crippled or rendered unable to treat victims of an earlier attack.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

N.J. hospitals will be attempting to improve their security, tests and drills are recommended to ensure the right precautions are taken.

Emergency vehicles and ambulances are on the lookout for anything suspicious. This includes a recent incident where 3 middle eastern men inquired about obtaining the proper creditials to operate emergency vehicles.

State delivery trucks are now being stopped and searched, visitors to hospital must sign in and out of the hospital as well. Teddy Bears are being seached and flower deliveries from outside the hospital flower shop have been banned.

Doctors and nurses are on the lookout for any patients coming in with symptoms of chemical or biological attack including rashes, fever, or flu like symptoms.

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center has developed a new recall system to be able to track down employees in the case of an attack. This system will be able to send a mass message to at least 22,000 employees.

Hospitals and staff are stepping up security measures and keeping watch to make sure all patients and employees are protected and ready in case of a future terror attack.

where did "they" get this info from? Seems "they" are trying to spread more fear. Did "they" get this info from tortured prisoners from Afghan, Iraq, or Gitmo? Or are they making this up to help spread the terror. You know, a little icing on the cake. I mean, really, why jersey?

Honestly sounds like propaganda to spread the terror to me. Just my opinion.

I read through the article and alot of it sounds like paranoia. I guess you need to have it but I just don't see the logic in warning the public about this. This will make some people afraid to go to the hospital. It really does seem like disinfo, atleast that is what my gut is telling me.

Well, I don't know where "they" got their information from. Personally, I am glad that "they" are taking more secure measures to keep "their" patients and staff safe.

And thanks, I like my avatar too!

Well the reason I put it the way that I did is that the hospitals don't need this memo to prepare, they should already have been. My mother-in-law worked in a hospital in Denver and they were doing drills even before 9/11. Also, the ambulance part is kept seperate from normal visitors. These things "they" are saying should be automatic, and not told to the public. I still think "they" did that to install fear.

I am sure NJ hospitals are at the forefront of the mind of every terrorist on the globe.

Abdul: "Shall we bomb some hospitals in Texas?"

Ahmed: "No Abdul - it is the New Jersey hospitals we must attack"
