I have been lurking for a while so I thought I would finally register.
Hubby & I live in a rural area in west central Ohio. I keep busy with my 80' x 80' veggie garden, fruit orchard and honey bees.
Hubby retired last October and we have been preparing for any event that may send this country (or the world) into chaos. I think I am working him
harder at home then he did at work, lol.
Hope to meet some like minded folk here, as we seem to be the only ones in our circle of family & friends who is actually paying attention as to what
is going on in this world.
good idea to grow your own veggies, ive also recently started doing it...can't believe ive never done it in the past - it saves you a fortune, its
organic and good fun!
if the world does end in a giant nuclear fireball at least we will have our home grown potatoes eh?!
As a fellow resident, I too have been busy with the old garden. (good weather lately)
You will find tons of like-minded people here, and tons of argumentative too.
But it's all in good fun.
Just remember to use the Search button so you can find any topic to read about.
It really helps, as there is a TON of information here.
Have fun and remember one thing:
Not everything is true/real if its posted here.
We have been growing our own veggies for 12 years now. I have taught myself how to can, dehydrate & freeze food properly.
I am excited to meet new people at ATS. I have hung out in other forums & have met people who are awake & in tune with the crazy happenings in this
world.
You will meet a lot of folks on here who are similar to yourself. I just don't get it though. If the world falls into chaos I don't think living out
in the countryside growing my own food is going to work. If our number is up, its up. I don't see the sense in fighting until the last breath. I think
its better to surrender to what is.
People get very attached to their lives on this planet. They don't want to let go. They will do whatever it takes to hold onto it. I'm very much ready
to let go.
I read 3 words in a book by ET. I try my best to live by them.
Non-resistance, Non-attachment , Non-judgment.
Anyway as you enter the doorway to ATS today I am gone to sneak out by you as you come in. Best of luck and don't let on I am gone.
I have never been to Ohio physically. Visited a few times in songs though. Sounds like a nice place.

Welcome RuralGal! I too have my veggie garden and this year am expanding it from 10 raised beds to 25. I have lots of great veggies coming in.
I've already harvested Radishes, Beets, and Spinach. Now I have my Tomatoes, Squash, Zuchinni, Cucumbers, Green Beans and Peppers coming in. Pretty
soon I will be getting prepared for my fall plantings.
I am blocking you from leaving, you can't leave just when I get here. You are going to miss all the fun!
We raise as much food as we can for several reasons, not just TEOTWAWKI. The quality of food available at the stores is suspect. If I raise my own, I
know that it has been raised organically. Another reason we grow is the rising food costs.
We prepare for natural disasters, such as winter & summer storms. We are all electric out here so if the power goes, we have no water (we have a
well).
We both realize that we can not take it with us when we pass. But we do like to live as best we can while we are here.
I was ill all Winter & Spring so I did not get my Spring crops in. I also will be starting seeds for a Fall crop soon.
So far I have been harvesting zucchini, peppers & onions as needed. My green beans will need harvested soon. I keep staring at my tomatoes but they
refuse to turn red. I can not wait to savour the first bite of homegrown tomato.
Howdy neighbor!

Thank you for the information & the links Sauron. I will start reading them as soon as the gbaby will let me. She is insisting that grandma plays with
her train set.
Greetings to you, west central Ohio, me mid central southern Ohio, Republic Of. We may not be like minded, but I like that you are growing your own
veggies.
