Murdoch says chief Rebekah Brooks is his top priority............

News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch has said Rebekah Brooks is his priority, after arriving in the UK to handle the News of the World phone-hacking crisis.

He flew into London on Sunday and went to News International (NI), which News Corp owns, for talks with executives.

He appeared later with Mrs Brooks, NI chief executive. Asked what his priority was, he said "this one" gesturing at her and smiling.

She has been under pressure about her former editorship of News of the World.

It does seem that Mr Murdoch appears to be a little heartless 'tossing' out those who were never there at the time of the scandals and yet doing everything to protect Rebekah.........

What is the fear if Rebekah goes ? What Hold / info does she have that could affect....well anyone ??

Just seen this, I know it's from the Mirror so not the best source considering the circumstances, but, they are reporting 9/11 families being targeted too. This would be a major turning point.

Monday morning and it is reported that the Police will be interviewing Rebekah Brooks over the NotW allegations........

I wonder if she will have a brown envelope in her Gucci Handbag ??? Just a thought.....

I also see that the purchase of BskyB by News Corp appears to becoming a more distant thing.......there are calls and referrals to OFCOM (The Media watchdog - any Americans who are reading this......... the very few obviously)..

There were also allegations of 'phone hacking' the victims of the 9/11 disaster in New York......... if true then this adds another angle to this vile issue and degrades the memories of perhaps many of those whom died in that horrific event... How would Americans feel if they knew the supplier of their POP culture news might have been complicite in acquiring information in a dubious way from dead victims......?

On the subject of Americans..... I think I understand why they are not intersted in this News Corp issue............ It is because MOST Americans 'digest' and have become used to digesting a sponsered news service and actually have a VERY poor grasp of world affairs, current affairs, Geography and Religions........

I term this the 'goldfish' syndrome as they appear to have 3 secs memories..... Just thinkning out aloud....

I suspect the contents of any brown envelope would be photos or some such evidence to blackmail those at the top rather than any kind of *cough* cash settlement..

Tho I still wonder who is behind this (not the NotW stuff) but rather who or what is behind the force that is countering the Murdoch empire.

That's a question I've been asking for some time now, and neither I or anyone else seems to have the answer at present.

It certainly seems to me that someone is orchestrating this behind the scenes.
But who, to what ends and why?
Who stands to gain the most given how this has publicly proven the incestuous relationship between the press, government officials and ministers, senior police officers, the old boys network etc and the complete lack of morals and ethics?

Im not sure if Im seeing any guiding hand behind this. If it hadn't been for the Guardians coverage and questions from a few MPs brave enough to challenge News International this story would have died a death years ago. It all changed as soon as the Milly Dowler hacking news was released. Most people didnt really care if Hugh Grant or M.P's phones were being hacked. The recent revelations just showed up the darker side of the NofW.

I would be more concerned about a hidden hand trying to hush all this up and get the public thinking about something else.

That is the bit the bothers me most.. (who or what is really behind this!) It seems yet another puzzle I doubt we'll get to the bottom of... and we seem to have had a few of those recently like the billions being offered to Britain by Lord Blackheaths bizarre Foundation X.

I actually do feel that someone/something is guiding the way this is unfurling.. The supposed leak by Vince Cable of a War with Murdoch gives me some indication that something else is going on, and the other media outlets like the Guardian, are involved with this other side...

Never heard of Foundation X before...... just done a search and it is a genuine concern backed by enourmous wealth........or so it seems ??

Maybe their ambition is to re-create the British Empire once again........ BUT even with MASSIVE bullion backed reserves equivalent to ALL the current Gold mined worldwide....... that's still not enough to ''pay-off'' the PFI initiative spending on all the new hospitals built in the UK over the past 12 years which will soon in the future have to be paid for as well ??

I threw Foundation X into the pot as one of those very strange events that have happened recently that show other hands at work.

The Foundation X claim is interesting in that for a man of the city like Lord Blackhealth to be taken in by such a scam (if it is was a scam) then in my opinion for the scam to work it would need to leverage knowledge that such wealth and power did exist the first place..

So I guess my whole premise is that if wealth and power like that does exist behind the curtains then perhaps they are pulling more strings than we realise, as this whole situation feels (to me) more like someone else pulling the strings.

Well, it has all been directed so to expose News International before the BskyB deal. That seems pretty obvious. And like you say it was Cable who announced his War against Murdoch, which he seems to be winning as I see it unlikely the BSkyB deal going through. So maybe a concerted effort by The Guardian and other anti Murdoch entities to scupper the deal at the prime moment.

I agree it could be something as simple as that..

But putting on my tin foil hat and going on how the world is turning right now, for another cross party scandal to erupt following the expenses scandal places the political establishment at risk to such a degree that I am unsure any politician would take that route unless they where being strong-armed, or the outcome of not taking that route creates an even bigger monster.

Yes, but you have to be very brave and very powerful to take on Murdoch, the police and Cameron and his cronies.
It's an attack on part of the establishment.

Vince Cable is very well connected and quite influential.

Maybe there is a split within tptb?

Of one thing I am certain, the Press Complaints Commission will be a casualty and it will be replaced by a government appointed regulatory body.
For all the PCC enabled the press to be pretty much self-policing and as such allowed the excesses of the press I am convinced that this is the wrong direction and will damage and harm the independance and impartiality of the press.
Despite what many would have us believe there are still some good and honest journalists with integrity out there.

I have to agree whoever is behind this must have a lot of guts and feel strong enough to weather the storm that is happening/to come while having powerful connections, but I do feel this is about a split/rift in tptb..

And your right, who ever they replace the PCC with will most certainly be tasked with ensuring this (i.e causing the Gov such embarrassment) doesn't happen again, Sadly, in my opinion truth is the usual casualty in these things
