Jury Reaches Verdict: Anthony Cleared of Killing Daughter

www.foxnews.com

Jurors have reached a verdict in the trial of Casey Anthony, who is accused of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, Fox News has learned.

Judge Belvin Perry said he will read the verdict at 2:15 p.m. ET Tuesday.

The Florida jury deliberated for more than 10 hours. If convicted of first-degree murder, the 25-year-old Anthony could get a death sentence.

She could also be acquitted or convicted of second-degree murder or manslaughter.

This is Amazing and shows you that a person is not guilty until proven guilty. Everyone thought she did it and would get the death penalty.

The jury of seven women and five men had worked through much of the long weekend, hearing closing arguments Sunday and Monday morning and deliberating for six hours that afternoon.

In their rebuttal closing argument on Monday, prosecutors said Anthony killed Caylee in June 2008 because the toddler interrupted her carefree partying and love life. The jury received the more than 400 pieces of evidence that have been presented by both sides in the case since the trial began in late May.

Prosecutors said the defense's assertion that Caylee's death was an accident made no sense.

Anthony's attorneys say the girl drowned in the family's pool. They have said Anthony panicked and that her father, a former police officer, decided to make the death look like a homicide by placing duct tape over the child's mouth and dumping the body in some nearby woods. George Anthony has denied that.

Prosecutor Jeff Ashton told the jurors no one makes an innocent accident look like murder.

This is a great day for the US justice system and comes to show America is still the greatest country in the world.

Actually I watched the trial from beginning to end.

This is actually a very horrible day for the justice system. It is kind of like the OJ trial all over again.

We are lucky to have the system we do, but to say this is a perfect example of the justice system at work is a complete lie.

Actually this proves your justice system works you must proove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and the prosecution never had anything more than circumstantial evidence and elaborate stories.

LOL I think I must have my Casey Anthony Filter on, takes out all the news about her
this is the first I noticed it

I'm inclined to agree with the OP on the issue

Innocent until proven guilty - I don't care what the media says - I can't judge, I wasn't on the jury.

My Facebook exploded with the irrational "opinions" and definitions of "right and wrong" as the verdict was read. I followed it vaguely online and I am not surprised in the least of the outcome. The prosecution was very shoddy and circumstantial at best. While the case obviously was a pack of lies, there is no proof as to who was lying or what really happen, and guess what - in American I'm still glad to see that some people are innocent until PROVEN guilty.

It does not matter what the media says, it does not matter on whether YOU think she did it or not, because frankly, your opinion does not matter. You were not there. You did not get to look of the evidence in depth. You did not have first hand experience with the trial.

So yes, a big win for the American justice system today, because if she would have been charged guilty based on the sad assortment of evidence that was presented, it would have been ridiculous and purely opinion based.

Logic and fact based evidence are what matters, not your opinions because you are butt hurt because a child died. Not what you believe based on the medias skewed portrayal of it all since the beginning.

Now excuse me while I continue to discount the emotional fallacies of all my Facebook friends as they scream to the world things like "Casey Anthony should rot in hell" and "I hope someone finds her and kills her". Beautiful people.

Innocent of murder? Maybe.

Innocent of having her 2 year old missing for over a month while she partied it up drinking and screwing around, not even close.

So the jury found her innocent of murder, fine, there apparently wasn't enough evidence for that. But she clearly needs to be charged with something in relation to how she went about partying while her 2 year old was "missing"

Accident? Who the hell makes an accidental death, of their CHILD, look like a murder? Who makes up several different stories including one in which a nanny with no home, phone number, or last name "took her" for a month, and what did the mother do? Go drinking. I've seen the pictures. I've seen the interviews, not a single ounce of remorse but for getting caught.

So the justice system worked did it? Explain that to the hundreds of innocent people on death row right now, who couldn't afford the right attorney.

Yup the justice system in the US is the best, as long as you have the dough.

What a load of crap.
