It's never a good thing when jobs get ripped out from under people.

Doesn't the US have some sort of essential service protection regulations for this sort of thing ?
Another words, shouldn't the cutting of essential services be a last resort ?

This should be evidence to those who claim the cops are nothing but a revenue producing machine for cities that it is not the case in the least bit.

This is a sad day for San Jose though. As i have stated before, non revenu producing departments are the first to take a hit during budget cuts.

Actually they did. They are the ones who voted in city council, who made the cuts.

Representative republic, not direct democracy.

yes,

but i bet they weren't thinking about police cuts on election day !

now the citizens suffer because of possible bad fiscal policies and/or unforseen revenue declines.

i guess some things just "slip through the cracks" as they say.

can't win for los'in.....

Somehow I think with a little training in self reliance the residents of San Jose will be safer without the LEOs hindrance.

All they need to do is invite a few recently discharged armed forces personnel to instruct them on how to protect themselves and the city will once again be a bastion of safety as good as if not better than before. The newly Discharged can be guided to non combat jobs after they have passed on their knowledge, perhaps avocado or citrus ranch with a couple of acres or a tiny storefront something that is a start for a hardworking enterprising young person.

People need to take care of themselves. I'm putting a video surveylance system in my power plant that not only will take videos but call the police. Not to mention I'm rather well armed

How can people need to take care of themselves when almost our entire country are complete idiots who cannot even owned a gun. Same for other countries too. Some people are too lazy.

And for that I applaud you, I love hearing people(especially on ATS) Who aren't afraid to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights. Its not a decision of taking the law into your own hands but a matter of protecting your pursuit of happiness

First to go should be office jobs where the drones just sit there and let answering machines pick up their phones and do nothing else....most agencies could stand a 20% personnel reduction and still function just fine....
