Ignorance is not a word to describe that you do not agree with a view point. It is not a counter point either, calling someone ignorant is not the I win button of forums.

If you call someone ignorant at least give some reasons why and at the very least string a few sentences togther with valid points, simply saying they are makes you look ignorant and quite frankly a tool.

Here for the people that use this word source.

Starting to get sick of people using this word when they have nothing else to say or are just passing through and think that if they call you ignorant they will look smart.

I agree with OP. People who call others ignorant have run out of good arguments. it doesn't make them look any less ignorant.

Your OP would work in the exact same way, even if you exchanged 'ignorance' with 'Dis-info.'

Both words are often used as a last resort, after all other chances at attempting to back up the claim or belief, have been used. They are left with no other options.

Everyone is so quick to cry ignowolf, it's sickening.
There's a thread going on right now where everyone's screaming IGNORANT because of a post on the first page....there are 5 other pages, did you happen to read those to see other point of views?!
No.
so the thread is 6 pages in and you've only read page one and suddenly you think you're two sentence on the end of the 6th page calling me ignorant makes you better than me?
How frustrating/annoying/......ignorant

I havent seen that thread (luckly enough lol). Im referring to a topic that has only 5 posts, 2 replys from me and one from someone who stopped into say that I was ignorant and that was it.

I wouldent mind so much but the topic wasent even controversal or anyting just a run of the mill topic that I threw my opinion in and instead of having a valid reason why I was wrong he just said I was ignorant.

I through this site was built on the theory of debate and open discussions on intresting topics not a site that resorts to playground name calling thats even in the wrong context.

If anyone is intrested in the thread, its this one. Extremly well written with little replys linki

Some people just seem so wrapped up with trying to be "ATSers"
As the person who introduced me to this site called them "super serious know it all's that only know what they know"
What's the point of a discussion if you're going to shoot down and label "ignorant" any opinion that goes against your belief or your first thought on things?
I feeeel ya ;p

For starters, calling someone ignorant could be considered a personal attack, and a violation of the Terms & Conditions of the site.

Really, you should attack a person's arguments or position, NOT the person.

For example, you can say, "That claim shows ignorance of ..........", and then you'd be using the word more accurately (and attacking the position, not the person).

Unaware is a much friendlier word to use...or simply state you disagree, then explain why, etc.
