"Army leaders have headed to White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico with new network radios, computers, and smartphones that the military wants to
take into battle to see how they work in conditions similar to Afghanistan where many of the soldiers will eventually be deployed. The exercise is
called the Network Integration Evaluation (NIE)."
"The soldiers are blunt with how well the gear works, with little concern for what has been spent to design and build the equipment. The exercise has
already found a serious design fault with the new Ground Mobile Radio, which is a product of the ill fated Future Combat Systems program. In short,
the GMR has failed tests in the exercise. "
The article doesn't mention it, but I wonder if this is in any way connected to all the reports we are getting of faulty and counterfeit chips from
china. I'm glad they actually tested this in harsh terrain before deploying it and putting our troops lives in danger.
