well seems like this story was all POOP talk!

UPDATE: We think we may have gotten duped! Like many other webites, we picked up on the story below that a Japanese researcher had found a way to turn human feces into an edible protein. One of our commenters on Facebook suggested that this story was a hoax and after some investigation, we think he might be right. We emailed the researcher for clarification, but have not yet heard back. But in the meantime, we did find this piece on Salon by Justin Elliot, who traced the origin of this story back to a Youtube video and also found several similar headlines that popped up online in the 1990s. We'll let you know if we hear back from the researcher. In the meantime, our apologies. Source

Here's an object lesson in how poorly sourced -- and quite possibly dubious or dated -- information can make its way onto some big-name news websites. A few days ago FoxNews.com published a piece in its Science section with the startling headline, "Japanese Scientists Create Meat From Poop." It begins like this:

Damn.
I wish i read this before i swallowed the original story hook, line and stinker.
I actually produced and consumed my own d.i.y. burger.
It tasted o.k. but there was carrot in it.
And i hate carrots.

I'm sure it's not tough to extract unused nutrients from human waste and inject them into a synthetic medium for consumption. The problem lies in the fact that when all is said and done, you're still eating $h!t.

The thing I find funny about this is:

There was a guest last night on Coast 2 Coast who was talking about the evil food companies agenda to poison people. He used the poop-burger as an example of these evil-doers.

It's hilarious that the anti-government types will spout off about the MSM being unreliable, but then if the MSM has a story that supports their ideas, then they use the MSM as a source! Perfect example here, the food industry is evil because of poo-burgers, now it turns out poo-burgers aren't even real! I doubt we will hear a retraction from that specific C2C guest about poo-burgers.

Ever seen The Human Centipede? It is an interesting movie to say the least.

I would post a YouTube trailer but even that might be a bit disturbing for some, so I will let you Google it.

I was reminded of a scene from the movie when reading this thread since it is the first I had heard of boop-burger.
