I was going through some emails and remember that Campaign for Liberty had sent me an email about an event that was going to take place at Union Square Park in NYC. The subject was "Ban the Scan NYC Rally, June 10th. I remember saying I wanted to go and I guess I forgot about it.

Anyways I wanted to see what was said and went searching on youtube and found this video. I've never heard of Michael Boldin and a search only revealed a few threads, but he is an excellent speaker and I think everyone should hear his message.

The video is kind of long so I'm going to transcript some quotes from it, because I think it's that important. It's funny that there were a bunch of different speakers and this is the first video I choose and I felt the need to make a thread about it.



He starts off with

We don't need no stinking scanners and we don't need no stinking permission to exercise our rights, we need to learn how to exercise our rights whether they the government or TSA or any other agency wants to give us permission to or not. I think most of us here are probably in agreement that the TSA is out of control and just about everything it does is unconstitutional and some of us here including myself say they shouldn't even exist at all. But the question that we have to answer is, what do we do about it? Do we march on washington DC in the hopes that the federal politicians will limit the power of this federal agency that they created and that they fund to the tune of 8 billion dollars a year?

Do we contact the TSA itself and demand that it put limits on itself, that it's going to fix it's own problem that they created? Do we vote the bums out in the hopes that the new bums say sorry for all those last guys they really screwed it up but we're going to fix everything for you now? Or do we go to Federal courts in the hopes that these nine unelected, unaccountable, politically connected bureaucrats or lawyers on the supreme courts say you guys have freedom to fly now you have our permission? Or do we boycott the airlines until their broke? Maybe, but maybe their buddies in washington DC, like george bush did back in 2001, will say these guys are too big to fail and we'll bail them out with 15 to 20 billion dollars of your money anyway. My message here whether it is the TSA, the patriot act, or the endless foreign wars is the same, going to the federal government to fix the problems created by the federal government isn't just a silly idea, it doesn't work and it's never going to work.

So pretty much he's saying that something needs to be done differently and if we don't make something happen things will never change or get better. He then tells a story about Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

When soever that general government assumes un-delegated powers, this was Thomas Jefferson author of The Declaration of Independence, he said a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy and what he meant by that is we're not supposed to sit around and wait for the Federal government to fix it's own problems, we're supposed to resist violations of our rights in our communities, in our families, and in our states as they happen.

Then he talks about James Madison having a vision that it's the states duty bound to interpose, to stop dangerous unconstitutional acts from the Federal government. He raises a good point about how the Bush administration tried to pass the Real ID Act in 2005 and how they threatened us by saying we couldn't do things like fly. He also speaks about how Montana nullified the Real ID act and said it was void in their state.

The Federal government threatened them, but they didn't back down. The moral of the story is the Federal government can't do much when the citizens and states start pushing back on the local level. He briefly gets off topic and speaks about the drug war, but ties in it because if more states got on board then the government can't say much.

He also says even if Ron Paul is elected and stopped it, it wouldn't put an end to it forever because the next guy still has the power and we need to learn how to deal with these issues locally no matter who is in power.

I don't want to go on much more I think I covered the gist of it. He speaks about 3 steps as a blueprint to fight back against the government. I highly recommend watching the video and with that I'll end with his ending.

When asked what political party he was he responded,

"Political party? None (pause), I don't think they believe me, but it's true. I'm not a Democrat or a Republican or a Conservative or a Liberal or anarchist or a glean? (not sure if that's the right word) or a socialist or a libertarian or anything in between. I'm not even an independent, all I am is me and I all I want is to live free. Thank you for joining me"
