Schoolgirl 'murdered by ex-boyfriend over free breakfast bet'

Was not really sure where exactly to post this but I just had to share this ridiculous crime with you.

This is what the title says. A bet that I presume started off as a "joke" and then escalated, with one of them obviously taking it a tad too seriously.

I have always wondered what makes people "lose grip" and do something like this, out of nowhere.

Thoughts?

Wow never heard of that before

Sounds like a relatively good idea, however there are always problems implementing something like that. It just kind of interferes with your basic rights in a way which produces a kind of legal dilemma.

I see the same problem with it as CCTV, it might reduce small crimes but if someone is determined to kill someone they are going to find the time/place without the mosquito device or CCTV, unfortunately.

Mainly, it annoys people who's hearing has not yet dwindled to the point it cannot detect the frequencies emitted.

So young people with relatively good hearing, hear that high pitched sound, which I can attest to is absurdly annoying. And that's just from when my old telly went on the blink, and squealed. Older people around me could not hear a thing..... but it drove me to distraction.

Older people are, you see, less likely to loiter, so rather than annoy us oldies (now) with elevator music in malls, they target those pesky youth... *waves walking stick in the air* Grrrr ...

Not everyone has this kind of instinctive aversion to murder. It is a varying thing. It´s kind of like how some people are perfectly willing to butcher an animal for their dinner, even if it´s not necessary, whereas some people baulk that idea, even if they are meat eaters. Society is dictacting our morality, but it is not black and white - it is a spectrum. Is murder really so counter-intuitive to human nature as many people would assume? I would think not. Is somebody who lacks the ability to empathise any more unnusual than anyone else? Or do these different traits of character simply consitute the diversity of human nature?

As for that "mosquito" device, I do not think it has any kind of mind controlling powers or whatever. I´m 25 and can hear it, yet I have not murdered anyone (recently). This case is just an exposé of the truth of humanity, in that not all of us can, or will, conform to society´s expectations of our thoughts and our actions.

It is easy to blame these things on the internet, on popular media and so on, but that is not the cause. I´m afraid it just so happens that people are not perfect little angels and there will, of course, be many people out there who do not subscribe to the general consensus of appropraite behaviour - whether they display this mildly or in extremity, the fact remains that whether you like it or not, this is what humanity is like.

It wasn't the bet that led to this.

Dark forces had more to do with it than the bet did. But they don't get a mention.

As for the mosquito device, mothers are going to wonder what the hell is wrong with their babies. It will have big problems. Especially if the kids discover earplugs.

I have no doubt it has another purpose.

Bring back the death penalty in the UK. The murder rates are rising and potential killers have no reason to fear justice anymore, since prisons are more comfortable than Butlins.

Yano, i get the feeling this kid was mentally ill. I wonder what kind of background he has :S
I think i may finally do some research into this area. I thought the suicides were abit iffy, but now this teenager kills another and its made to sound like businness as usual.
