I have. The government of France also has a lot to apologize for (and that's just one government) so lets condemn government while we're at it.

Perhaps you'd like to share your concerns in the Political sub-forum as this is regarding Conspiracies in Relgion

From my understanding their position is that we are all "born in sin."

Sodomy spreads disease like wildfire, the taboo against it (partly spread by the church and partly spread by the folks) prevented a lot more suffering than it caused.

What i meant by this is that the bible condemns homosexuality as a "sin", an an "abomination" - Thus people who are gay are born into sin, they can't help who they are.

Homosexuality is a form of love; and for that reason alone it should deserve respect.

The church says that everyone is a sinner.

The Bible did warn against man lying with man and the stigma against this prevented enormous suffering (because sodomy spreads disease like wildfire). You ignored this point.

I prefer hypocritical, It's more accurate.

Some .orgs make no pretense at being "good". The church does. With them, it's "do as we say, not as we do". They do have a lot to apologize for. Just a cursory glance at their history proves that, not to mention the things going on right now.

You have all the cliches of religious bigotry down pat (and the church says that we're all sinners).

Saying that such a large and powerful orginization has made mistakes and has things to apologize for is like stating the sky is blue. It's a pointless thing to be pre-occupied with (unless you're bigoted).

I don't know a single person who doesn't have things to apologize for (let alone a powerful instition made up of millions of people).

Interesting. And funny.
Cliches? Bigoted? And you edited it 3 times... I wonder what you removed. Be honest: Did you call me a poopy-head? That's OK, you can tell me. I won't turn you into a toad. I promise.

I don't consider this to be bigotry. I simply state facts, not cliches.

You state "I don't know a single person who doesn't have things to apologize for (let alone a powerful instition made up of millions of people)".

Tell me, how does one apologize for burning people alive because they didn't accept church teachings? How is it justifiable to wipe out entire towns?

Or, in modern times, how does one say "I'm sorry" for molesting kids?

Or, how to apologize for trying so very hard to cover it up? Talk about awkward! No wonder christians try and distract.

I do hope the mods leave this thread alone. They have so far, and I appreciate it. It is very instructive. Plus I dont give a damn about others staying on topic on a thread I start.

Like I've said, bigots often state facts but their overall views are still based on ignorance and narrow mindedness (IE. focusing exclusively on the negative).

Who said it was justifiable? Like I said, governments, rebel groups etc. etc. etc. have all done similar things yet I don't you see condemning government as a whole like you seem to do with religion. Some native american tribes took great delight in roasting people alive as slowly as possible, wrapping their intestines around trees etc. etc. etc. The fact that you focus only atrocities committed by this particular group and not others shows your bias.

I am curious......did you wake up this morning and want to make a thread to argue with people all day about how right you are and how everyone must think like you?

My whole point to you was to express love and forget the rest.

If you have a resentment then let it go! Go eat some ice cream or something besides keeping on and on about how you despise religion and a controlled society.

If you really hate it and despise it go to a foreign land and live on the land...be away from it all instead of sitting on a forum ranting and raving.

And I've found that those that excuse it by saying "but THEY do it too" are only trying to distract. That excuse didnt work with my mom. If I couldn't get away with it, what makes you think you can?

This isn't about THEY. This is about an .org (churches) that tries to cloak themselves in righteousness and loving kindness. Those are their words. Their actions do not match their words.

Who said it was justifiable? Like I said, governments, rebel groups etc. etc. etc. have all done similar things yet I don't you see condemning government as a whole like you seem to do with religion.

And this isn't about governments, rebels, etc. It's about religions, particularly coming from christian/jew/islamic perspectives. At least you somewhat hinted that it's not justifiable. That's progress.

But governments are committing these kinds of atrocities TODAY yet you focus on things that one particular religion did a long time ago... it shows that you're more interested in attacking religion than you are concerned about the atrocities themselves.

Religion has done a lot of good in the world... that is a fact too (I've acknowledged the terrible mistakes they've made lets see if you can acknowledge the great good they have done... I predict that you won't, because you're a bigot who only sees the negative).

Organised religons have served their purpose,it is time to bring them all together under one banner, this is the single most powerful lobby within humanity at the present time.

They are all ripe for the picking, they just need the right man to lead them together,a man with no claim to leadership or influence, kinda like Jesus was,one who will be accepted into the halls of every worship spot with impunity.

Its obvious they were all intended to remain seperate until they were RIPE FOR THE PICKING.

Now is the time, but who is the man?

I'll leave the ice cream and circuses to the sheep.

Besides, food only works for women.

This isn't about governments. That is another topic entirely. I know that you know this, but I suppose any red herring will do in a pinch, right?

That is how christianity got into power, which is what the OP showed. They murdered, tortured, and stole.
Are you saying that they left all this behind?

Religion has done a lot of good in the world... that is a fact too.

I'd rather voice my opninion and engage in debate than sit back and pretend everything's butterflies, icecreams and candy-shops.

Religion is not free from criticism. If you're going to come to "Conspiracies in Relgion" forum, or even a "Faith, Religion and Theology" you can expect people with differring opinions to engage you; every single point of view, or idea can't be considered exempt from criticism just to save "offense".

Sure, but on balance I think they had a negative impact on the world (and I think on balance religion has had a positive impact).

Every wine has its time and the SACRAMENTAL WINE IS PAST ITS PRIME.

Communism brought a huge country or two together ,again ripe for the picking the vines heavy with fruit.

These big groups are awsome in that they afford us a timesaver in gathering together like minds so we can ultimately have a one world society.

Thats all, so they were created of innocence and need, became self sustaining monsters and will now be absorbed into an entity bigger than any one individual was prior.

A one world society.

I was not talking to you but since you want to talk with me...I will engage. I am not taking offense to anything. Ha! I am simply going along and reading the sarcastic comments when not agreeing. I actually think it is funny how so many people think just like this.

I am all for people sticking their neck out and saying whats right ....but ranting about religion and goverments and control is a waste of time and air on a forum.

There is a reason for billions to be controlled....I mean come on...THINK!! That is all I was trying to do is to get Mr. 666 to think outside the box....but he continues to want to rant...so be it.

You can tell there is penned up tension and resentment especially when you disagree.

ALL I was trying to get at was not to bash others for their opinions. Plain and simple.

SOME of us love ..... and we love God. (Not Religious dogma....we love ...............GOD)

When you begin a thread asking for peoples opinions only to be sarcastic and annoying when others do not hold your view...you are actually creating an argument. Is that what you wanted? Was that your goal?

Its people like you who cause war.

You open a dialogue and ask for peoples opinions....but really you do not want to think outside the box..no.. you want everyone to come on this thread and agree with you.....like you have nothing better to do than to go on a playground and ask for people to play only to push them down when they do not hold up to your ideals.

You said.......

I know! We'll write the Word Of GOD! (insert loud thunder sound here) We'll take a bunch of old books, along with some newer works of fiction (even if we have to write them ourselves), and sort through them to find proper teachings, If we can't find exactly what we want then we'll just add it to those books. It's not like anyone will figure it out LOL! It will be taught that gods word is infallible and perfect! Oh I am BRILLIANT! Someone pat me on the back and tell me what a genius I am! If you're a pretty brunette or blonde, do feel free to give me a big kiss (or more...) in gratitude!

If there is a God....IF....now THINK....IF there is a God......for one little minute Mr. Know it ALL....If there indeed IS a God.....are you going to say this and laugh?

Good luck!
