I think at very least each episode should have a part at the end where former child pageant stars have ended up in therapy or on drugs. Maybe a really hard hitting documentary needs to come out re-affirming what fans already know but won't admit to themselves.

In no corner of my mind can I understand this. For most people I have discussed this with revulsion comes as an instinctual reaction. They don't need to sit through half an episode to get what is so horrid about it. Immediately they just say "turn this off, this is horrible." Making it even harder to understand for me is the fact that the few fans I have met often complain about their own controlling mothers.

Media masochism? Vicarious beauty? I can understand that these exist but why they exist is totally beyond me. Ultra violent media seems wholesome by comparison.

I learned alot from the show. I had always known that women categorically look better without pancake batter on their faces. And now, I've learned that little girls look better without the batter too!

Batter = bad
No batter = better

Strange to have a show all about pancakes though.

Depends on the person.

Prime example, Kym Johnson on Dancing with the Stars.

Without makeup, she looks horrible (usually in the rehearsal scenes). With makeup (night of the show), she's smokin' hot. I've never seen anything like her transformation. Absolutely amazing how much that does for her.

Really? I don't think she has any makeup on in this photo. Washing makeup off your face while in a neck brace is reserved for Russian acrobats.

As I recall, she got injured during a dress rehearsal, so yeah, she had the makeup done.
Seriously, I've watched every season, and I've seen her dressed down, and it's pretty scary. Don't get me wrong, made up, she's a fox (and now, recently, she tries more often than not to ensure she's done up even in the rehearsal shots). But, even in last night's show, there was at least one clip of her in rehearsals where she had no makeup, and yep, scary Kym....

EDIT: most of the dancers on that show ARE Russian athletes.... (Kym's Australian though)

Fair enough. I'm not a guy, so I'll have to leave the foxy/non-foxy judgements up to them.

However, given the choice, would you prefer all women makeupified or not makeupified? Yes, I can make up words. So can you. No special license required.

I just think some need it more than others. Personally, I'm not a big makeup fan. I don't like the taste of lipstick even, when kissing.

Heehee I had to laugh at the foxy/non-foxy part... The judgement probably goes something like this:

"On behalf of the international tribunal of dudes I declare you... FOXY! You may pick up your member card and gift basket at the door. Please use this new found responsibility for good only and not evil. Cause like that would totally suck."
