Holy rat poop batman!!!

This article is pretty damned scary when you think of its future implications!!

Will they secrety fit us with these in the future to assist with the NWO implementation?

Not very likely lol... but very interesting and a tad worrying none the less.

Your thoughts peeps?!?!

Peace

Jeez! Scientists really need to stop messing with nature. Of course this will be touted as a possible cure for Alzheimer's, but what about that bad implications? Like creating improved Manchurian candidates who can literally be made to forget having committed murders/crimes, with no chance of remembering later? Maybe they could even go so far as to erase nearly all of a person's memories and then create a new, false identity for them? Devious stuff.... also, as a rat lover, I hate to hear about those poor animals getting their memories tampered with..

Humm, This is a rather disturbing New report!
I wonder when they will implement this technology into pocket size remote controlled devices. similar to that on MIB. Wahahahaaaa I want one!

This reminds me some home of the shadowrun series. Chip brain interfaces and memory recording upgrades. If hte chip can send memories to the brain there would eventually be a wifi interface for net comms. New tech is scary for many people however my grandmother died of Alzheimers and a memory recorder chip would be welcomed as opposed to the losing of the self. Ah mortality!

Every "self" gets lost eventually. It's sad when it happens before death (we're on our 3rd go-round with grandparents with Alzheimer's or dementia now), but that is a natural artifact of science prolonging life.

I would rather lose my "self" naturally through death or old age than have this sort of technology running amok.

If you want to talk about crazy - crazy is the greedy cancer doctors in Houston, Tx who cured my grandmother of cancer at the age of 80, when she was already losing her memory, just to prolong her suffering with Alzheimer's. No, we can't let an old woman just die in peace - we have to make sure she loses every shred of dignity first!

Science is reaching that tipping point of doing more harm than good, I think. At least it is currently.

lol.. MIB FLASHY THINGMY FOR THE WIN!

I spose the flashy thing would only work if interfacing with an "already present" wireless chip in ones brain... but yes... its getting frightningly close to that now isnt it

The article title is a bit misleading.

The chip acts as an artificial "bridge" between the parts of the rat brain which control long and short term memory. Normally the hippocampus plays that part. When the hippocampus is disabled by drugs (not the chip) long term memory is not accessible. The chip enables access.

I think the technology is promising for treatment of brain damage.

This made me think of an article I read a couple weeks ago.... scary stuff!

A drug which appears to erase painful memories has been developed by scientists.
The astonishing treatment could help sufferers of post-traumatic stress disorder and those whose lives are plagued by hurtful recurrent memories.
But British experts said the breakthrough raises disturbing ethical questions about what makes us human.
They also warned it could have damaging psychological consequences, preventing those who take it from learning from their mistakes.

Heres the link to read more

Kinda scary to think of what could potentialy happen if this pill was fully developed and got in the hands of the wrong person... rape victoms or murder witnesses could be fed the pill and have no memory of the event... etc..

let me know what you think about it!

Holy p00pa sc00pa!!!

Yes that is a scary little old article indeed. To think we could swallow a pill not only to take away the pain... but also the memory?

I spose it would have its decent medical uses then there is always the more sinister side of course.

In the wrong hands... I would not like to be on receiving end of this drug!

Thanks for the info bro!!
