War Evolves With Drones, Some Tiny as Bugs

New York Times WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — Two miles from the cow pasture where the Wright Brothers learned to fly the first airplanes, military researchers are at work on another revolution in the air: shrinking unmanned drones, the kind that fire missiles into Pakistan and spy on insurgents in Afghanistan, to the size of insects and birds.

World war three is going to be awesome..

In the less traditional sense.

I don't mean to come off as rude, but your info is about 5 years old. This info was released about 2005-2006, which means they were more then likely started using it around 2001 or so. Most info like this has a 10 year with holding.

But, cool find and always great to revisit the technology.

It doesnt surprise me, actually i wouldnt be surprised if they are already in use!

Dont forget when it comes to Military R&D and tech, the majority of the time by the time the public hear about it, it's already up and running.

That's why I said WW3 is going to be crazy. If they are talking about technology like this then what about all the stuff they keep secret. That's the point I was making.

All the more reason to own a shotgun,
"sorry officer, that damn bug wouldn't leave us alone"

Your tax dollars hard at work for the perpetuation of a corrupt establishment.
Nah, we can't cure cancer or the common cold but we can spend billions for new ways to spy on you.
Keep pushing Washington, keep pushing

In that Area 51 book by Annie Jacobsen lady she claims (and how much of her book is true I'll never know) that these things have been in production for years. At least the prototypes have/are being used in some way.
