I never really understood why his personal business meant anything about his ability as a politician.

Once you're a politician, you're required to be perfect, or at least cover up you're imperfections, lest you be thoroughly pressured to resign?

People who make bad political decisions stay in office generally, and I haven't heard of anything bad this guy had done relevant to his job.

He took some of the photos in the government gym so it's a testament to his character that he would do such a thing. It's also alleged that one of the girls was 17 years old.

Well that's what he get's for being such a dick to the media while trying to falsify the events. Personally I don't give a rat's ass if he sends texts of his how's your daddy to people, as long as it is not on the people's dime or in his office. But, it is the down right lying, and getting in the face of reporters to intimidate them when they are getting close that say's don't let the door hit your pimply ass on the way out.

I thought it was known that he had a conversation with a 17 year old, as anyone is allowed to. And his sexual conversations were actually with only adults.

I also don't see how exactly his character ties into his political roles. If there's no evidence that, what amounts to a problem between him and his wife, will affect his choices being made in his job.

Lying to the media, honestly means a lot more to me than what he did. But I don't hear anyone saying "He should resign because he's proven he'll lie to cover for himself, that's bad for a politician". What I disagree with is how people care about his personal life. Lying to cover up allegations, I'll agree with caring about, but that's not what most are concerned with.

His lying has been mentioned repeatedly on the news as a reason for his dismissal and the fact that he took some of these pictures on government property is another big one. The 17 yr. old problem is alleged so there may be no problem there but if it's in the context of chatting over the internet you'd have to ask yourself why a grown married man is doing this.

A man that constantly degrades and belittles his wife would be considered a private matter but would you want a man with a character like that in charge of policy?

This is the fundamental question being asked.

I know it's up to the voters but those are the questions they are asking. As a public official and part of Congress which does affect every American we all have a say in the matter.

As K-Williams said to me in 74"Time wounds all heels".

If a man is having problems with his wife and meets a woman and has an affair that is one thing. For a sitting member of Congress to be sending pictures like this over the internet shows that his intelligence is around that of a high school student.

Not only is the act extremely immature but by him not knowing the potential of this blowing up in his face or not caring shows that he does not have the mental capacity to deal with the issues currently facing Congress. This is more telling than the actual event itself in my opinion.

You must be kidding. He didn't just " have a conversation with a 17 year old, as anyone is allowed to." What did he do with her? Hard to tell, and we certainly can't believe his lying a$$ on what happened. But we do have past performance to go on, and that is enough for me.

And how many other minors did he sext to?

And if you don't see how a politician, with access to top secret information, and capable of spending federal tax dollars can be compromised or blackmailed by a sexual setup, then you are truly naive.

Don't worry. Howard Stern will probably hire him.

--------------
It looks like the DNC used a combination carrot / stick approach to get him out of the
U.S. Congress. He gets to keep his pension.
