"BEIJING—China warned other countries to stay out of escalating disputes with its neighbors over the South China Sea, even as the U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines pledged to support the country as it asserts its sovereignty in the potentially resource-rich waters"

Source: www.ft.com...

"China called on third countries to keep out of its territorial disputes while pledging not to use force, in an apparent attempt to prevent further escalation in a disagreement with Vietnam over the South China Sea.

“We hope that countries that are not parties to the South China Sea dispute truly respect the efforts of the countries concerned to resolve their disputes through consultation,” Hong Lei, foreign ministry spokesman, said on Tuesday. He added that China would not resort to force or the threat of force

The remarks came as Vietnam conducted a live-fire naval exercise in the South China Sea, which China claims in its entirety, amid rapidly deteriorating bilateral relations. Vietnam has accused China of aggressive harassment of its oil-prospecting ships since late May, and has allowed anti-China demonstrations to take place"

Thought this was interesting... how many threads have we seen lately about the chinese telling everyone to lay off them? first attacks on pakistan mean indirect attacks on china, and this. It does say they would not resort to force or the threat of force. So what methods do you think they'll use to get these countries, including the USA, to get them to back off?

Also, seems like the vietnamese are showing their strength by completing live-fire exercises in the disputed area

Thoughts?

The Chinese are not stupid you know, all they need to do is wait and sit everything out....the other countries will destroy themselves economicly.....at least thats how it looks like in the moment !

This is one of the great things about tis site, people all over the world can read about events that WILL not be reported on even in free nations.
In Australia a nation I live in for half of the year nothing bad is ever written about China....why? because they own nearly everything thats been sold in the last three years....and traitors cannot resist money.
From what I have researched China would whoop almost anyone in a regional war.

I've just got to say, based on my limited view of the world, these days China seems like one of the few grown-ups on a playground mostly full of squabbling, snot-nosed bullies. I don't know, maybe they're just watching the rest of the world self-combust so they can kick back and enjoy the planet.
