Is it possible for someone to become addicted to ATS? And If so, how would you treat them?

People can become addicted to almost anything... porn, some own lots of cats, or eat metal, or... god forbid, become addicted to lady gaga music.
So yeah, in my unprofessional opinion people can become addicted to ats or many other sites out there. As for how to treat them? I have no clue. Get em away from the internet and have them read a conspiracy book as to avoid 'withdrawals?'

I was actually thinking about this the other day and I came to the conclusion that pretty much anything else on the internet is addictive, games, porn, gambling, people can even become somewhat addicted to checking their email. So I guess why not ATS too right?

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

I would make them publicly admit they really like to get a lot of "Stars".

That seems to be at the root of some of the denial around here.

By the way, Could you define "Addicted" ?

Of course not. It's under control. I could quit any time if I really wanted. I do this to relax and have fun; its not something I need.
Heh-heh-heh...

I find I go through phases of ATS usage. I often hammer it for a week or two then leave it a little while. TBH though I do have a quick look at ATS everyday. I wouldn't want to miss out!

Precious metals are less reactive than most, are very shiny (appeal to the masses) & are generally quite easy to batter into shape

I wouldn't say you could become addicted to ATS, no.

Like most contributors, your activity ATS will wax & wane depending on the topics offered up for your consideration, your own interests etc.

BTS is interesting as a chill out zone if you need a break from time to time.

I am currently not addicted to ATS
I'm using it as a substitute while I try desperately not to think about my other internet addictions

What to do about an ATS addiction?

Considering how long I've been here I'm probably the worst person to give advice on this... but I'd say anytime you feel something is exerting too much control over your life you should just step back for a moment and take a breath...

Of course if your addiction is incurable you end up becoming an Admin...

Yeah I'm probably addicted.
But it's also a good thing.

Firstly I'm home safe and snug, and then it also proves that porn is not very addictive.

I'd rather have ATS than porn on a desert island.

I can always imagine gorgeous men, but the stuff people come up with on this site no man can imagine!

What symptoms do you have to have to be considered an ATS addict?
1.Spend more time on ATS then you do with your spouse.
2.Post on ATS when you should be cleaning your house.
3.Reading threads and posting when you should be cooking dinner.
The look you get from your husband when you serve him tomato soup
and grilled cheese. When he is expecting some kind of meat with potatoes
and a veggie and had no time to make dessert.
4.When you have to correct someone who is wrong on a thread instead
of folding a load of laundry.
5.Forget to pay a bill because you were busy looking for something to start
a thread about.
I am guilty of all of the above, does this mean I'm an ATS addict?
