"Just a couple of weeks after a traffic-counting device was stolen from a Huntsville intersection, two more of the items were stolen from the Elkins Lake neighborhood.

And despite the rash of thefts of the traffic-counting devices, police are uncertain why anyone would want to take them in the first place.

The small piece of equipment, less than an inch thick and only 5 inches wide by 6 inches long, is found at street intersections attached to the pavement and covered with a mat."

Link for entire article. Not sure how long the local paper keeps the link up.

Just a little strange.

1 - Small black flant object the people will drive over with little thought.
2 - Just enough room for flat putty like substance
3 - It come with it's own sensing device

Smallish town?

What do you think

Someone could place explosives in there, and replace them with others, I guess.
Even though there are terrorists who want to harm us, we still have our own homegrown nutjobs, the D.C. sniper, for example.

You could buy the same equipment from radio shack....dont think to deeply into it...where I live...people cut them ALOT...only for the fact is traffic counters usually mean more stop lights....a thing most people dont want more of...
