NASA's Voyager probes are truly going where no one has gone before. Gliding silently toward the stars, 9 billion miles from Earth, they are beaming back news from the most distant, unexplored reaches of the solar system.

Mission scientists say the probes have just sent back some very big news indeed.

It's bubbly out there.

"The Voyager probes appear to have entered a strange realm of frothy magnetic bubbles," says astronomer Merav Opher of Boston University. "This is very surprising."

Well, If you don't find this interesting, then you must be dead.

Had to share this because as the title states this is a big surprise.

I am happy to see science continuously evolving and changing what is believed to be correct in the first place. Hopefully this will disprove more and more that science is a religion.

Hopefully this will help out the theory that our whole universe is a bubble beside other bubbles which are also other universes.

Bubbles inside of other bubbles inside of other bubbles? Hmmm...

Anyways, big news and happy to share it with you all.

Any thoughts?

We need to get humans out there in my opinion.

Hopefully the government opens everything up to private exploration soon.

This is Huge and I have no idea what repercussions this will have on space travel... Is this the cause maybe that is causing the perceived and/or purported slow down in the voyagers/pioneers?

There is still a lot we don't know and i'm sure we might find even weirder things once the Voyagers Hit Interstellar Space.

December 2010 -Voyagers to Reach Interstellar Space in 4 years.

NASA's Voyager 1 probe is nearing the edge of our solar system after 33 years and nearly 11 billion miles of spaceflight. The spacecraft may make the final crossing into interstellar space in just four more years, NASA announced today (Dec. 13)

So we have around 3-4 more years until they reach Interstellar Space!.
or 3 years i guess!

Very interesting article OP! I couldn't help but get a visual of the Cosmic Creator swinging around a giant brew-filled mug singing heartily "Tiny bubbles, in my beer!"

I digress..
