Are the US Armed Forces Defenders of Our Borders? Seems to me like WE are the Aggressors...

In our upside down world, slowly the US poulace has determined that blasting some "dudes" in Libya is protecting our borders, our country, from attack. Because there would be no other reason to be there, right? I mean, what is the idea of a defense force blasting pathetic Libyans into paste; somehow Larry the Plumber is safer?

Am I crazy? In my lifetime, I was covered in dust by the towers collapsing, and I thought at the time, "this is going to lead to no good". Freedoms being abriged, fear and hatred, and the inevitable occupation of two countries...think about where we are now...IRAQ (oil) AFGHANISTAN (precious minerals, poppies, pipelines) and now LIBYA (oil) hmm....why aren't we in the Sudan again? Take a brief glance at the look below of our military battling the invading hoards...you may realize your answer fairly quickly...a good defense is a GREAT offense! Put that in your meerscham pipe and smoke it!

I agree, it's pretty sad what has become of the US Armed Forces - a force to impose the will of the US on others. I appreciate the irony of the Department of Defense long advocating incursions into other sovereign nations.

Agreed. The irony is lost on the nation but not on the world. How else could one see the US? If Botswana racked up this many foreign incursions (along with about 600 world wide military bases) my goodness would they be seen as the devil! And righteously so, eh?

i support the military n all that crap but everytime someone says they fight for my freedom it just grinds my gears!when the hell in this new millenium has anyone outside of the US ever threatened our freedom???it makes me furious!!!!!!

You arent crazy. (On this issue, anyway) The people who claim we are attacking nations who are doing nothing to us for "defense" are the crazy ones.

We are clearly the aggressive ones, the "terrorists" and even the one attack on America soil recently (9-11) was designed to send the message, "your military, your economic forces, and your politicians are harming us and we are willing to die to make it stop."

Unfortunately, our leaders just used that attack to justify what it had been doing, and to ramp it up a couple notches.

Aceto, oh. Ok. I guess as long as you call it another name...what again is NATO and WHO runs NATO? Hmmm...I bet the French are A#1 there! No? Maybe it's the Brits that call the shots? Nah. The song remains the same my friend. Call it what you will, our "Defense" forces are there.

Also, isn't interesting we seem to beat up on a lot of countries that could never match our military might? I mean, somehow people think beating up IRAQ is like winning against the Nazi's. T-72's vs smart bombs? Ahh, that's like bringing a machine gun to help put a tack in the wall. A cursory glance of this list makes one feel like indeed, we are the bully.

Thanks for that. Although this issue is very simple, I am interested to understand why it is viewed so casually, especially when the majority of casualties are civilians ( in all conflict) by the general populace. In the US, people would revolt if we closed down all of our bases worldwide. You would hope it would be the other way around.

I appreciate you letting us loons run the asylum for a little!
