Meat of the problem? Looks like someone is finally getting to the meat of the solution. I'm not going to re-hash what's been said so eloquently above. Net neutrality is a must-have.

I really wish the Site Owners and Super Mods would chime in on this subject. These people understand the issues and it is my guess the owners of ATS are hoping like hell the net stays as it is, which is to say Net Neutrality becomes codified in law.

This is just another way of introducing the Fairness Doctrine to the american public.

Typical progressive strategy. When an intrusive program doesn't work, just change the name.

This is simply false. Net neutrality protects the freedom of internet users. It prevents ISPs from limiting what services or sites you can access.

With that you are saying that a Service Provider should not be allowed to determine what service they provide and that the Government should decide that. And you call that "protecting freedom". :shk:

I've been in telecom pretty much my whole career. Trust me, you WANT net neutrality. You NEED net neutrality. Without it, companies can pick and choose which sites you get to see.

Thats better than the Government chosing which sites I get to see. In a Free Market System you go to the ISP that gives you the best deal...the one that censors nothing and has a good price.

Indeed. The only thing protecting us from the peering eyes of the Government are the companies, the ISPs.

"Net Neutrality" and "Protecting the Freedom of Internet Users" is pure Newspeak/Reframing. They are doing the exact opposite of protecing our Freedoms or keeping it neutral. Who is to guarantee that a centralized force such as the Government will be more forthcoming than my local ISP?

"Net Neutrality" is about Regulation. They are terrified of it not being controlled and not regulated.

Sky-Your 3 posts are simply spoken truth. I don't trust big business, but they do all compete, so in the market place for anything really, not just internet, you will buy from the best provider of a product. That is capitalism. Now if all the ISP's start charging fees, and limiting what sites we see, well, if will be up to capitalism again to invent another company that won't.

It's really quite simple, don't allow the govt to invade another aspect of our lives.
