This is so amazing to me.

People used to risk their lives in order to keep living or to ensure loved ones kept living.
Over the last half century and even more so in the last decade or so more and more people are risking their lives for thrill and accomplishment.

I would like to hear some deep philosophy on this.

Anyone?

deep philosophy..?

ok.
.the bear went over the mountain,, to see what he could see..
if Bears can go over mountains- just to see what they can see,
then I can go over the mountain,
to have a cup of tea..

we as humans NEED to explore our universe.. small or large

we ENJOY taking the last step off the high diving board,, jumping out of planes,
being on a stage,, walking through a rough-part of town..

anything we do as humans, that has a sense of fear to it,, gives us a sense of accomplishment..

if we survive ,, going over the mountain..WITH BEARS,,!

Deep philosophy has nothing to do with it...

It's simply the attitude of immortality when you are a teen or even in your 20's.

It isn't until you have responsibilities to others that you realize what you are risking.

When I think back on some of the stunts I did just for the hell of it....YIKES!!!

Heck, I used to get a ride home from work each night (in high school) on a bike, hanging on to my buddy's car as he went 40-50 mph. Do you know how hard it is to keep the handlebars straight with your right hand only?

What the hell was I thinking then?

Couldn't believe this when I saw it, a few years ago a double was still rare!
And never in my life did I think I'd see the double frontie done, can't imagine the point this sport will be at in a few more years
