I recently wrote about the Arctic Midnight Sun. This is what happens before that time comes: The Arctic Light. It's hard to believe that such breathtaking beauty still exists untouched on this glorious planet of ours. The Arctic Light is a natural phenomenon that happens two to four weeks before the Midnight Sun season, as the photographer himself, Mr. TSO, explains:

The Sunset and Sunrise are connected in one magnificent show of color and light lasting from 8 to 12 hours. The sun is barely going below the horizon before coming up again. This is the most colorful light that I know, and the main reason I have been going up there for the last four years, at the exact same time of year, to photograph. If you can imagine roping down mountain cliffs, or jumping around on slippery rocks covered in seaweed with 2 tripods, a rail, a controller, camera, lenses, filters and rigging for 4-5 hour long sequences at a time, and then having to calculate the rise and fall of the tides in order to capture the essence - it all provided a bit of a challenge. This was filmed between 29th April and 10th May 2011 in the Arctic, on the archipelago Lofoten in Norway.

Beautiful video!

Everyday,i see examples of what a special planet we live on.
Its just a pity that a small minority of humanity seems hellbent on destroying it!

This is beautiful. I hope that in the afterlife i could sit at a real spot like that and watch the world at that speed.

Thanks OP and burntheships, this guy is excellent!
Terje Sørgjerd has got some impressive work, his timelapse photography is amazing and so is his passion.

quote from him sep 2 2011

I am happy to announce that I will be creating a 60min blu-ray movie over the course of the next two years. As a landscape photographer, I have visited some really amazing places over the years, and I will be revisiting many of them doing this movie. It is a full-on project, and as a result I have now sold my apartment, print-studio, car and other belongings. I am leaving Norway today, and will start with Nepal and Everest. Wish me luck!
