This guy wants to help these students not to become debt slaves. From what ive watched from documentaries and the NIA plus from my own experience college does make you flat broke and in debt if you aren't lucky enough to get a full ride.
news.yahoo.com...
So what do you guys think?

Steve Miller said it best:

"Go on, Take the money and run!"

College or University degrees used to be a way to lift yourself up and guarantee a better job. Not anymore.

Use your brain, common sense and good old fashioned elbow grease. (Or Brain Oil)

Works every time.

And that $100,000 can go a long way to a small business start up if that's what is wanted.

With luck, these people will use the money to learn to become profitable plumbers, electricians, farmers etc. A dying breed, much to the detriment of us all.

I say profitable, because a failed business, does no one no good.

There is a bit more to it than just saying college is a waste of money. For many fields, going to college may very well may be a waste, but for the science fields, there is really no way around it. I'm decent at learning on my own, but honestly its going to be hard to learn a subject like Organic Chemistry without attending university. Especially when one considers the lab work that is involved!

I love going to school, but I do see many kids going to school with absolutely no bloody idea about what they want to do. They think a college degree means a job, but we all know it isn't that simple. However, if they are reasonably intelligent, they hopefully do get something out of the experience. There is an exposure to new ideas and also a bit of help in learning to think clearly and rationally that can be gained through university, if one has the right professors and the right frame of mind. And for those that don't give a darn for learning, there are always the social aspects to college as well. I believe many people see college as a way to form a useful network of individuals that they can then use later when they need them, whether it be for business or whatever.

Exactly! That is why I take one class at a time, and I make sure the class interests me. Why take it otherwise? I still don’t have my degree, but I am smarter (by that I mean common sense) than many who think a piece of paper makes them better than me. (I beg to differ)

What a breath of fresh air! Our kids are getting SO screwed just for trying to
grow and learn and make a life for themselves. My son went to Westwood for
2 semesters...long enough for him to figure out he was getting scammed.
8 months of a college that is about as informative and educational as
Sesame Street. 8 months and 20 thousand dollars later with absolutely
nothing to show for it. Now he's trying to figure out a way to pay off the
debt without being a slave.

Anyways, it's nice to see someone with money who actually has a conscious
and wants to see our kids move forward...no strings attached.

I love this idea. But I sincerely hope that he gives them wealth management classes as well. See, it takes a bit of mental de-programming to see money as a tool instead of a "thing".

People who don't learn this mind set and get lots of money get what I like to call "Lottery Syndrome". They lose all of the money quickly and end up further in dbt than before.

From what I know about college, everything is subjective.
A third of what I learned what disinfo and the college system ruins the talent of being autodidact.

Just shut up and repeat what they say word for word without trying to understand the essence.
This is the best way to get good grades and have references for jobs.

Wow I wished I had that kind of opportunity instead of wasting years in college to get out with a job that I could have learned in a month.

I wonder if he was inspired by this vid from NIA:

Its good to see him putting his money where his mouth is and putting the education system to the test by sponsoring some highly intelligent and entrepreneurial kids to go directly into the work force to follow their dreams.

I hope these kids are wildly successful and prove the education myth wrong, once and for all.

I wrote a huge reply in a related thread that got closed. So I'm going to keep this one short...

All a college degree is is a piece of paper that says you can learn.

I dropped out of college after 1 year. It's been 2 years since then and I've learned a plethora of information on various subjects. My favorite is quantum mechanics and health science. I could lecture a college class especially on health science.

Unfortunately our messed up society doesn't care that I can write a book on these topics, I will not be offered a job solely because I don't have a stupid piece of paper that says that I'm 'learned'.

This man is doing a service to those kids! College is useless and a waste of money. I'm not saying education is not important, paying 100k for it is. 5 of my friends have master's degrees and are working doing BS jobs(like working at sketchers). Teach yourself on the internet for free! Our monetary system is a joke anyway. I worked 50-70hrs a week just to make other people rich and have 30% of my check taken out. Wake up and stop being a slave or a slave to debt. Don't go out there and work your ass off at a job u hate and kills you slowly, I would love to work for this guy.
