There is a real divide in the people there is those who prefer freedom and those who think it is ok to have government steal on thier behalf in the name of equality. Where there is no divide is in the ruling class the democrats and republicans they are the ones who exploit the divide. Its not like the people have been tricked to one side or the other and they really agree. Their are many here who have been convinced it is ok to steal from your neighbor as long as government does it.

This is the reason we cannot come together and over come the left right divide. The republican and democrat leadership are one and the same and exploit the real divide to perpetuates our demise.

So what is your point? Is there a 2 sided system or isn't there? Do you want to spend your time complaining or are you going to do something about it? You mock my faith in the system and yet you support third party candidates? Might I suggest a more focused approach? You're really all over the place with this.

No, not really all over the place. The fact that I have (in the past) worked for third party candidates in no way invalidates my thesis. I only mentioned this in response to your getting presumptuous and personal about my level of commitment to change.

I did in fact respond to your redefinition of the dichotomy as "smaller/bigger" government by pointing out that the rhetoric of smaller government is simply that, rhetoric. When elected, the Republicans always grow government. If my Reagan video and information didn't make the point I'll quote Ozzy who summed it up really well I thought.

I keep hearing about these so called small government conservatives, but I have never seen one in the wild. They spend the same way their opponents spend. This just spend it on different things, and we don't "need" those things any more then we need the big Nanny state the liberals are selling.

I would in fact take a bullet for our freedom. But I won't vote for a re-branded social conservative like sarah palin and delude myself into thinking I was voting for Ron Paul. I will however, vote for Ron Paul. (Given the chance) I never said there weren't some "good guys" (freedom loving people) in politics, merely that they don't represent even close to enough of the power base to invalidate what we're discussing here, which is a false dichotomy perpetuated in order to enslave us. And as to your contention that you aren't a slave unless you consent to being one, I have to say you really don't get slavery.

You are correct, it is the age old "Divide and Conquer" strategy, while "We the People" are completely distracted by Fascist (right) vs Socialist (left) agendas, in the end we end up with anti-Democratic laws and regulations.

While we all fight each other on the net or at the dinner table over social programs and tax subsidies, the Corporations and Banks keep tilting the odds in their favor and concentrate even more increasing hordes of taxpayer money.

They have created an environment that feeds off some of our base instinctual desires for conflict, but have been able to get us to direct those conflicts at each other instead of the ones that should truly be targeted.

The players change, but the game remains the same, Obama the candidate told us what we wanted to hear so that Obama the President could keep on trucking with the doctrines and agendas laid out by the previous administrations.

Nothing would be different had McCain won either, hell we would even have the same Birth Certificate issues, it's all been planned and we're too stupid and distracted to notice or care, it's much more fun to call grandma a socialist or your boss a fascist.

Excellent point, and an important part of how this all works. They have basically identified certain ideological differences among Americans and manipulated the entire political discourse along those lines although those differences are insignificant compared to the wide gap (both in attitudes and concrete realities) between those with power and those without. Wish I had included that in the OP.

The paradigm should be big government - small government, state power - no state power.

The problem is if you have a paradigm based on those values they'd be a problem, most people left or right would realise they want the same thing, and the State would crumble.

I know all this. It makes me sick to my stomach. If I had the money to leave this country for good I would be out of here in a heart beat. We have the police state police brutality. Everything is privatized for profit from our health care system that wont heal you if you cannot pay to our prison system that is basically modern slavery. our government has been hijacked by wall street criminals and corporate interests and banksters. the middle class is gone. Foreclosures and unemployment are epidemic. We needed a full on revolution at least 5 years ago. We are too drugged by the food and water and we are too brainwashed by the main stream media to save ourselves. All we have to look forward to is sliding further into tyranny. USA becomes the new nazi germany. not long now before the fema camps start incinerating all political dissenters and 'awake' people.

I have this relative. She and her family are football nuts. After Gabriel Giffords was shot, I mentioned it in a conversation at a family gathering, and She did not know what I was talking about. It's those kind of people the MSM could be informing. Right now, I just turned NPR off, because they are rerunning a show about a musician and their baseball interest. There is NOTHING wrong with those things. I like music and baseball. But right now, the Republic needs to be saved from this encroaching fascist state, AND THEN people can sit back and enjoy mundane things.
