What happens to the Nuclear Waste ? A movie for the humans in the future

I've come across this very intriguing video that explains how nuclear waste is stored and handled, and how much there really is.

I can guarantee you one thing .. it will give you the creeps.

INTO ETERNITY

We, and all future generations for the next 100.000 years are screwed royally. It must stop. Now.

I believe that we should always be looking for alternate forms of energy. But I think we should be doing more research into fusion tech, rather than relying on fission. Check this article out.

Windmills and solar farms can help, but they have there technical & ecological drawbacks as well. The tech for these must be made smaller, affordable and more reliable before deployment.

Thanks for posting this! I've wanted to watch this movie since it was mentioned in one of my classes last week, but I keep forgetting to look it up. The majority of our species, unfortunately, has a tendency to disregard the future. That's why people smoke cigarettes and use other harmful drugs, waste precious nonrenewable resources, and use nuclear energy sources that produce incredibly toxic waste. We do things now without considering the negative affects of these actions on our own future lives, or the lives of unborn generations. An important question to ask when storing nuclear waste is, "How do we communicate to people who have completely forgotten our culture and tell them that this stuff is dangerous?" People (or some other intelligent life form) ten thousand years from now aren't going to know what the radiation symbol means. They'll probably find out pretty quickly, at the expense of someone's life.

Edit: I'd like to add that I don't advocate the use of nuclear power, but I recognize that powerful interests do support its use, and sadly, it'll probably be around for a while.

I do agree with safeguarding our nuclear waste but I think we should be finding a way of putting it to use to benefit our society kind of like that car that runs on garbage if we found a way to reuse the nuclear waste then we would have no need to hide it away.

In my opinion, the thought that we could build a facility that will guarantee safe storage for the next 100.000 years is beyond anyones imagination.

The "human intrusion" thing is what disturbs me most. I can not even start to imagine what will be in 10.000 years from now, let alone in 20.000 or 50.000 or even 100.000 years from now on. Whole civilizations might come and go. They might find the site and open it.
