Joplin, Missouri (CNN) -- Missouri released a list Thursday of 232 people missing since a tornado tore through the city of Joplin on Sunday.

The list includes people for whom missing persons reports have been filled out, said Andrea Spillars, deputy director of the Missouri Department of Public Safety.

"We know that there are individuals on that list that are deceased," Spillars said. Experts will work with families to identify the dead. Fingerprints, medical records and DNA will be used, she said.

The current fatality count is at 125, Spillars said.

She also called for anyone who can help locate missing people to call in and provide any information they have.

This is truly a tragic situation and a very sobering statistic. I wonder if these people could be located through cell phone triangulation. As the article implys, alot are probably deceased. Let's hope that some are found alive.

It's sad when mother nature becomes violent as humanity can be. Makes you wonder just how fragile we really are in this world so we must prepare for the worst. Rest in peace victims of Joplin. Hope they find their loved ones and recover from this ordeal.

Yesterday the total missing was 1500. I guess this is good news, as far as it being a much lower number now? This is such an awful tragedy. This whole year is just one tragic event after another, and it's only May.

Just saw that story on CNN. It pissed me off, cuz there are so many elements of this that the can focus on and report on, but all I kept hearing while they reported on the list was how there was 1 mistake with a kid that was put on the list twice (2 different alis's). They went off on a completly different tangent about this one poor kid and just kept saying how there are still mistakes with the list. Its like" Okay, they mistaking put someone on there twice, move on! geezz. CNN what a load of garbage!
PS- praying for the 231 still missing.
