What does the blue X mean next to a topic? and also...I have noticed that those threads with a blue X do not have the words (quote and post reply) in the upper right hand corner....why does that happen?

Thank you ahead of time for your answers.

That means the thread is closed to further replies.
So you can't Reply To and Quote the post.

If the content has been already shared or if its not complete with correct data. There are numerous reasons I have seen.

I know this is off topic, and since were talking about blue,
what does the blue "this post" do or mean on the top left of each post?

That will change the address at the top, where you would type...to the ID of the post specifically.

ETA;

This is for this particular thread:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

While this one would be for this specific post..

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Thank you for your answer,I see what it does now.
A second question, how or in what way does one use it?

It's mostly used for alerting specific posts and that sort of thing.

It's easier to just have the link to the post in question, as opposed to the thread and then attempting to find the specific post.

It's also usefull if you would like to reference a specific post from another thread.
