Born in the wrong time/century/millenium etc?

I always wondered how many people feel like this.
My own feeling is that I should have been born in ancient greece.
I would rather be talking to people in the agora about the nature of man and existance and if the city was under threat be ready to fight to defend it.
I know this seems like a romanticized image but I have felt like this since I was like 10-11 years old.
I'm more of a renaissance person with multiple interests like history, language, philosophy.
And I've never fit anywhere I've lived.

Sometimes I feel this so profoundly and sometimes I feel like this is just a product of the fact that I've never fit in.
Either way this is how i feel. Anyone else?

Your content and message can still be fit into today. You just need to mold your message for a more technologically advanced society. You weren't born at the wrong time. You're born at the right time with an alternative way to deliver your message.

Very well said... and what I would have liked to say..althought your response is way more concise than what I had in mind.

Not only was I born in the wrong time, I was born in the wrong dimension. I've always had this feeling. Sometimes I look around and humans seem so alien to me, like I'm from a world where humanity took another path. Its not like I don't feel like I should existing in a world with modern technology, its that I feel like this technology isn't being used in a manner that suits its nature.
Kind of hard to explain.

I should've been born toward the 51st or 55th century, that's where my mind and he's probably at. I just feel lost but I muddle through like I always do....I should be in a civilization where people integrated with the aliens.

I used to feel like this a lot. Something tells me I'd fit in perfectly in medieval era, living a simple life, maybe even during the Roman period. I'd probably be a badass gladiator, too, but eh.

it is your imagination, you have never went back to the acient,there may not so good as you imagine.infact i think morden time is better,if you want you can go to some poor country,there are no car,digital,even no electric.most people can not be accommodative to it.

Back to when they first started to populate my home city is where I have always felt I belonged.

Hard but honest times, and bureaucracy was not something you had held over you for the simplest of things.

I used to look at the old archived photos of the area back when it was still dirt roads, the only things still recognisable were church steeples and one huge clock in the middle, and who knows if it even held the right time them lol.

To see the same city today, cold, faceless, sterile, full of anger and strict laws, too busy to even see shadows..

Either that or so far into the future, the human species has either blown itself back into prehistoric times, OR overcome the ridiculous quest for money, power and control.

I think I'd have more luck finding a time machine to go back in time however...

I think we all think thoughts like this from time to time. My question, every time I hear it is; Are you prepared to deal with open sewers, rampant disease, a shortened lifespan, and basically every convenience that you are currently use in your day to day life.

Yep it is a romanticized image. I like and recommend Mathematics response. Make everyday worth it. Spread the message.

they recreate medieval ways of life, they try to encompass all aspects of the time expect for the bad parts. so they romanticize it
Theres always little niches that recreate the things you seek, you dont have to be there as such

Yes, I feel the same.
The world of today is too hectic for my likeness.
More and more people feel that way.
And people want to go back to the old ways.
But it is not easily done, nowadays.

I am well with you on this one. What we have built up for ourselves is something that disgusts me on a regular basis.

I know it very likely means a much harder life physically, with apparently more direct risk (as well as a need for skills I don't possess at this time), but I yearn for an agrarian setting where one works to grow and raise food and fend directly for a homestead, bartering as needed - instead of working in a corporate office on things that only indirectly relate to the needs of life. Working directly with the world and nature itself, instead of the societies man has set up to dominate over the natural world. We are so disconnected from actual life in my view, and have adopted what I can really only frame in terms of the matrix.

It's a hard feeling for me to cast in words, and I doubt I'm really doing so well at all. But I feel very much what you say here...and love your thoughts on ancient greece, a society of high learning and discussion of philosophy and the origin of so many of the bases of our modern awareness. I know our views here are indeed likely romanticized to a degree, but can't help but feeling that some ancient examples are well in play - the mayan ages of gold, silver, bronze, etc...I feel we're living in a downgraded world, if that makes sense.

I should have been born in the 60s live in the 70s and be a flower child (im from LA) and hitch hike to san francisco to new york or was it new jersey for woodstock.

Or be in the 50s to be a housewife and cook and clean with wearing dresses all the timw and makeup

Two different personas for women yes i know. But yeah. I love both ideas

I should have been born in the late 60's so that I could be a young adult in the 80's, when Heavy Metal was in it's prime.

Missed a lot of great stuff that I'll never get to see, but there are some good bands here and there that are paving the way forward.

I know what you mean though. I finally found where I belong and it all makes sense now. And now I'm out trying to "find our people." Only you would know if you are one of them, but I think I've got it summed down to three essential questions that help target the folks we are looking for:

1. Have you always been searching for something, but you don't know what it is?
2. Have you always felt like you weren't part of your family or "set" but had some great mission to accomplish in the world, but didn't know what it might be?
3. Do you have a heart for humanity and God's creatures?
