I guess no one has missed Lars von Triers latest movie, Melancholia: www.imdb.com...
about the end of the world and a, yet unknown, nearby planet crashing into earth.

But this is not the only movie in the making, with this theme: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is a movie with big names like Keira Knightley and Steve Carell.

The plot: As an asteroid nears Earth, a man finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbor who inadvertently puts a wrench in his plan. Release Date: sometime 2012.

Warning/programming or just capitalizing on the collective consciousness? I dunno
Hit me with your best guess.

(Also, if this is the wrong forum, I would be thankful if a moderator moved the thread)

Nothing big imo...they are banking on the 2012 thing. Why wouldn't they? It's a cash cow!

Have you been in a bookstore lately? It drives me nuts at ALL the books they have on 2012 in Barnes and Noble. Most of the books are utter crap yet they have a huge section dedicated to them. I just walk right by and try to ignore it lol

Amen to that, It's nerve wracking and I'm already got issues myself then to see that all day ? F 'ing unbelievable.

But Lars Von Trier films are a must see, seeing his movie antichrist made my lady parts hurt. (If you've seen the movie, you'll know what I mean!) His movies are so deep, just because it has a depiction of Niburu doesn't mean that's what it's about look beyond the box.

Not been in a bookstore lately, have too many books to read at home
But I can imagine. A Hollywood movie is wayyyy more expensive to produce than a book though, that is why I find it more interesting that this is invested in.

People love their doom, can't get enough. People are fine if the whole world is going with them, they're not okay if only they're dying though. Sad but true.

I feel that the movies and tv programmes today are politically slanted across th board. For some reason I can't get out of my mind the idea of movies like this an d the FEMA camps - why, one can only speculate?

I know. And since this is a known place for dome lovers, and no one had mentioned this movie anywhere, I just thought it would be a good idea to put a thread up.

I mostly see it as no one really know what is going to happen, not tomorrow and not 2102. But I guess these kind of movies can be some kind of processing fear, and hopefully we'll come to the conclusion that whatever happens happens. Que sera sera
