OP...
Do not strive to be amongst the 99, strive to be with the 1. Do you understand what this means? You must learn to lean on yourself to find truth; the truth is within you. Leaning on others results in May 21st, the "witch hunt," and so on.edit on 21/5/11 by AdamsMurmur because: (no reason given)
God is within you and each of us.

I lean on GOD alone for my understanding.

The biggest mistake of the Western religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) is their exclusivism. They each declare that they, and they alone, are true.
The Eastern religions somehow have managed to interpenetrate more. Buddhist, Shinto, Confucianist, Hindu, and Taoist more or less accept each other and acknowledge that those in the other groups are fellow travelers toward the same desitination -- that which is holy and sacred in all of us, beyond any words or text. "Many paths, one mountain." There have been religious conflicts and strife in the east, but they are relatively rare, and often ultimately based in something else, like ethnicity rather than religions doctrine per se.
I'm not sayimg, "East good, West bad," that's stupid and simplistic. Of course there was tyranny and oppression and horror in the east, but it didn't usually come pouring out of the mouth of religion, for whatever reason. Whatever else they did wrong, they seem to have gotten that right.
The next leap in evolution for the Western faiths is to abandon their exclusivity, which seems like a step backwards but is paradoxically the only way forwards, out of the blood-spattered, iron-age chains that shackle montoheistic theology to this day.

And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. So if you worship me, it will all be yours." Luke 4:6-7
Do people really think the devil stopped making this offer after Christ?
All of the puppets you mentioned have the same being pulling their strings.
