Well, there you go folks! The huge military spending is like competition between Soviet and the U.S., which caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. Except, this time military spending is going to cause America to collapse. Since America is a capitalist country with less social safety net than the Soviet Union. How will people react when the TSHTF. I know that we already have 1/7 people on food stamp (50 million). Then there are people who are unemployed and barely making it by going check to check (adding millions more). When the dollar collapse food will become so expensive no one can afford to fill their stomach. What do you think will happen when TSHTF? Will there be a Race war. We have a history of treating blacks being treated badly. Then there is the release of violent criminals from prison because we can't afford to lock them up.

So basically, I'm assuming all hell will break loose like in this video. "They call us gorilla, well, we out there acting like gorilla

"America will collapse into Anarchy & violent civil unrest"

The balance of prestige, if not yet the balance of power, between the United States and China has shifted...In some disturbing ways, Sino-American competition is beginning to parallel the contest between us and the Soviet Union in the Cold War. This time, however, the United States is in the fiscally precarious position of the USSR, while China plays the economically robust role we once did.

It is not just that China and others are regaining the regional preeminence they enjoyed before the now defunct era of Western colonialism. It is also that America's fractious politics are now dispiriting rather than inspiring to foreigners and citizens alike. The financial system and economic model of the United States have been discredited in the world's eyes.

Why?

Fisheries will have more to worry about if the country is breaking apart...
Fish as you wish.

Sounds like truly possible fears in reality.
The way crime is often framed in TV shows implies there is a low-grade race element to some gang wars and the establishment going on.

However, I don't see capitalism collapsing.
They always said capitalism leads to socialism, but in reality socialist dictatorships lead to capitalism!

Unemployment figures wane and increase.
A drop in capitalism does not a revolution make.

I think the SHTF when they pretend to pay workers, and the workers pretend to work.
That is socialism - full employment with no gains.

Anybody with any sense can see the parallels between what brought the SU down and what is bringing the US down... military spending is the worst thing that can be done with money, from a pure economic POV.

And I can just hear the morons now, when everything falls apart: "There was no way anybody could have seen this coming!". Yeah, right.

Military spending itself does not bring down a country.
In fact, a good war is good for the economy.
Some say World War II pulled the US out of the depression years, and the social security after that war enabled women's rights, civil rights and for a decade or two gave US citizens the highest quality of life.
Heck, even the West forgave itself for the Holocaust and rebuilt its claim of Germany, and founded Israel.
Perhaps we need a full war, with full global conscription and not this wishy-washy defense budget.

OK maybe a bit harsh, but I sometimes think that's how the powers that be think.
They can make anything sound good.

Look up: "Fall of the British Empire".

We have more in common with the history behind the British Empire.

What is funny is that many people do not realize there was a British Empire.

Starting Point: The British Empire
