he dozen astronauts and cosmonauts now in space will have an audience Saturday with Pope Benedict XVI. The first papal call to the International Space Station is planned at 7:11 EDT. The pope will speak in English during the 20-minute call from the Foconi Room of the Vatican Library, and also address Italian astronauts Roberto Vittori and Paulo Nespoli in Italian, according to a press release from the European Space Agency .

Wow... 11:11! I mean, who is so busy that they need to schedule a call at 11 minutes past the hour and couldn't just say call at 7? I guess if anyone is that busy, it would be the pope!

But I can't stop asking myself... "What on Earth (pun intended!) could a group of astronauts need to talk to the pope about?" Someone please answer me... Why is the biggest religious figurehead scheduling a 20 minute conference call with a space agency?
