Civil Defense

I predict that the government can't 'do it alone' and that US citizens will have to get involved on a more personal basis by forming civil defense groups in their neighborhoods.

Anyway, wouldn't it be prudent for everyone to get some sort of *training* of what to do in the event of an attack or disaster? Are we to just sit glued to the boob tube and wait for instructions? What if the power shuts down and no TVs can be watched? Huh? I mean, we all know it's coming - one way or another. What if the banking system is struck and no one can get any cash-o-la out of the machines? Or the truckers can't get to the stores? Or the gas crisis causes people to be unable to get around?

I'm really surprised 'Homeland Security' just keeps the country abrest of the situation but is not providing any solutions! Just telling citizens to keep their eyes open for suspicious behavior is ridiculous. It's time for the general populous to devise a plan for themselves, their families, their neighborhoods and their cities.

I believe the USA will be struck in multiple locations simultaneously and with such ferocity it will shock everyone. Just because a few detailed plans have been found out, doesn't mean that a dozen more just like it doesn't exist elsewhere. And just because a few terrorists have been detained and or caught at the border with cash and a plane ticket to NYC doesn't mean that dozens of others aren't already in place. I've 'seen' the sleeper cells - and know they've been here all along, awaiting 'activation'.

I mean, I don't know about the rest of you... but if something happened right now - today - I'd be in big trouble! As I wouldn't have enough cash on hand or ample food and water supplies. Not even a battery operated radio! Yikes! I guess I better get crackin' on that supply list....

You can start now by picking up some extra cans of food every time you go to the supermarket...even if it's only 2 cans each time you go, it will add up. Bottled water multipacks on special at your supermarket should be dirt cheap; they'll be heavy, but it's worth the shlep. I would also get into the habit of reusing big beverage bottles & filling them with water & putting them in the fridge...even a few bottles in the freezer! And in these uncertain times we should always have a stash of cash available--to depend solely on your bank is insanity, that money isn't "real" unless you have it in your hands.

Sounds paranoid & survivalist I know, but in the big blackout last year in NY I was caught with only $20, and all ATMs & banks shut down. I ran into an elderly couple who had only like some singles & change because the rest was in the bank. Then I went over a friend's apartment to crash, because there was no transportation; they had a water tower that was only powered by electricity, so water ran out pretty fast. I totally freaked out. Most stores were closed, and the few food stores that were open, like the supermarket, had long lines & food was being rationed. And we only had two AA batteries and a little radio to find out what was happening...we kept rationing the batteries so we'd only listen to little sound bytes at a time.

The moral of the story? With a little bit of forward thinking & emergency supplies, that situation would not have been anywhere near as frightening or seemingly dire than it was.

When and if the predicted disaster scenario occurs (there will be rumblings and a discoloring of the sun or sky) word will get out and people will start to move.
First looting.Then escape to the outskirts,where there are warehouses.
Police will put up roadblocks.there will be skirmishes,shots fired.When police start getting shot,we have mainly shot shell here,they will order confiscation,which is impossible under the circumstances. Then,the word,anyone caught with "hardware" to be killed.
