Indiana, the state now infamous for trashing the Fourth Amendment, has rolled out its own version of the Department of Homeland Security’s cell phone alert system.

“The Division of Homeland Security unveiled a new alert system Wednesday that sends text messages to users. The system will be used at this year’s Indianapolis 500 and other major events that take place in the city,” reports WISHTV 8 in Indianapolis.

So now not only can you get your daily dose of fear mongering from your oh so fair and balanced MSM outlet, but now you can get your fear mongering while on the go!

This to me suggests, that the Federal government now can invade you with " alert messages ", not only to instill fear, but obviously, by sending you a text message tells me that the sat link is up, and the GPS is now engaged to track your every move.

Sadly, there are those who will " miss " the whole premise, never fully realizing that they are being tracked.

It's voluntary, is it not?

I don't understand why anyone would think the U.S. Government is faster, more trust worthy, or more accurate with disseminating information than the free market (Twitter, Facebook, RSS feeds, etc.). Why are we paying the government to do this when everyone else already does it faster, more corroborated sources, without censorship?

Very good question. But Me personally, I think this " program " is just an added bonus to the Patriot Act style infringements. Stop and think about it, regardless if its voluntary or not, there are enough retards out there that will think its a good idea to have these messages sent to their phone. Whats scary is, those very same people don't understand the logistics behind it. It only takes a bit of common sense to figure out that its a program in which to track your every move. Under the premise of something good.
