More than 40 firefighters are tackling a major blaze at a scrapyard on Tyneside. A number of explosions were reported coming from the facility in Albion Row, in the Byker area of Newcastle. Surrounding buildings were evacuated after the fire was reported at lunchtime, Tyne and Wear Fire Brigade said. Smoke from the blaze could be seen across the city and as far away as Hartlepool, about 30 miles away.

Link to the Northumbria Universities webcam which shows the Scrapyard fire to the right of the frames. As it stands the situation is still ongoing. residents in the city are being asked to keep all doors & windows closed until the situation has been brought under control.
