caterpillar infestation in leeds and essex uk

A Yorkshire urban park has been infested with thousands of caterpillars, stripping 15 trees of all their leaves.

The caterpillars have been identified as Ermine moth larvae and the normally busy Shipley Hall Fields in Bradford is now empty of people.

The larvae have formed large communal webs covering railings and tree trunks in the small park at Frizinghall.

ive just seen a video of this on the news and it looks real freaky... webs and thousands of caterpillars everywhere.

This happens every year. There's a link on the second report explaining it.

i was glad to read that, seems they are going to just let the birds and animals naturally pick them off, let nature go it's course to balance things since there is no real life threat from... catipillars haha

Your thread title is misleading. Bradford isn't Leeds, it's the next city over. They are however, both in West Yorkshire. Just letting you know.
