figured I would show off where this painting has been going, it is taking far longer than I thought, but I think most artists would accept moving from stage to stage of a work is more difficult than actually painting it. I have had to bust out the mirrors to try and keep an objective perspective, I am losing my ability to see what is off or not off because of staring at it for so long.

I am soo stressed about what to do with the lower half, a million different perspectives and forms, different ideas are flooding to take place but none are 'right'. furthermore, the bottom half is what will establish this as a youthful psychadelic piece, versus a sophisticated story of the inward and outward movements of concentration.

any critiques very appreciated. (there is lots of refinement left to do still, the paint is a little too wet to play with though)

EDIT* I added in the dots of reflections on the eyes to see how much life it gave- The original is HERE

Hi Dude,

What gave you the idea? Very impressive nonetheless. Peering into the abyss, something like that?
looks like your are interpreting peering behind the curtain, so to speak. cool piece.

I am blown away.
I am no art critic so I could be wrong if I say nothing else is needed, I would love this thing hanged on my wall(s) just the way it is.
Wow, just WOW.

well there is a lotttt too it, anyone who is dabbling in subjects from meditation to reiki to new age to any form of philiosophy should relate to that ability to absorb the mind inward rather than outward, I believe we are in the midst of an actual change in perception. For example, prior to the renaissance, I dont believe the average person understood what it meant to see things in 3 dimensions, maybe even lacked an 'awareness' of depth (even though they were moving through space and acting as any person might act). Now humanity is enetering fully the age of energy, of awareness of our astral existence not just our physical existence. These changes that we all talk about, from different perspectives, are all leading to this change, the talk itself is part of the change, not just a reflection of it. The problem is, most of the talk on ATS or in the papers, amongst academics, are too subjective to lead to any holistic understanding of whats really going on.

The objective way to see these changes I believe is through subjects of art, math, music, and language (fictional writing/poetry/philisophical texts). Most of those subjects are not engaged with en masse, which is why there is tension, for the things that inspire those subjects, as opposed to the piles of comments that make up most of the media, are of a higher order.-:edit: (I guess I mean they are influenced from INSIDE rather than outside, intuition vs reason). I wouldnt say any is fully free from subjectivity though, just incase I am called on that, I guess I mean, those subjects tend to be less egoic, less influenced by fear or division, which means they are closer to the 'truth' than our outward observations. I am babbling now lol.

You are not babbling sir, lol

I've been having trouble recently of putting brush to canvas, mainly cause
i didn't have anything really meaningful to say. You could say that I'd lost my soul, my spark, and didn't really know how to really express myself in any medium. But I really liked your work, guess it was trying to tell me something, and I'm not ashamed to admit I was looking for some inspiration,

I guess, with how things have been speeding up recently, with media, culture, reality, even conspiracies, trying to spin more webs on top of the ones already spun, that us arty folks are still just trying to come up with something that says, "We know that it's all BS, this is my way of revealing it, stop trying to scare us all!"

Now I'M babbling! lol!

I have had problems with ego, and looking outwards lately. Hopefully I can come up with some media by looking inwards, and try and really express what I would really like to say, guess my fear is knowing what people REALLY think of me, or know me more than I do.

I have to confess that I am fully blown away. To me it looks like fabric delicately folded around agates or gem eyes, and I find it hard to believe someone actually painted that, especially as the full length doesn't all fit onto my screen. I am far from being an art conaisseur of any kind so in my world I don't see (the necessity for) the relation between the figure on the chair and the eyes. If it were called The Observer and you merely had the eyes, I would love it. But you're the artist and I sure do not wish to insult you by adding any more gibberish. Amazing talent.

yeah man, i put down art for a few years just thinking about the whole worthiness of the practice and my ability to share something worth looking at, the desire really is what led me to sort of eastern thoughts and philosophy, meditation and those practices eventually circled back to art and now Im just going at it. We all have out own thing to trigger our creation I guess-

Wow, this has touched my soul. Hes venturing into that blank unknown...peering inside searching himself and outwards. Looking for himself inside all the other...thats what i see. hell never find himself out there though....it was always inside his own minds eye.
