Sorry if this is in the wrong area, feel free to move it if so!

I wrote this song to express a bit of the general feelings people have been having towards the 2012 situation, as well as general feelings of lament and urgency toward the current state of global affairs. Tell me what you think! One thing that has fascinated me throughout all of my readings, meanderings, considerations and research has been the nearly universal perception in people that a "change" of some kind is about to take place. Is this truly the case? If so, what will that change be? Who will it effect? Is it the end of the world? Can we do anything to change the outcome, and if so, is it already too late? It is with these concerns and considerations in mind that I humbly present to you, my fellow ATS community, one of my recent compositions, The 11th Hour. Comments, critiques, and thoughts on the 2012 situation are very welcomed! How did the song make you feel? Did it seem to describe your feelings on the state of the world also? Lets talk!

How about some lyrics?

Yeah I agree, definitely a Pink Floyd vibe. I enjoyed it man.

Sounds a bit like a feeling of anticipation mixed with wonderment. The style of it makes me think of someone who is just wandering around trying to find something (maybe meaning) in whatever it is they're seeking.

Self actualization maaaaaan

Anyway, I'm getting a bit too deep for myself but good job on it.

Thanks Lest! Reminds me of Pink Floyd a bit too. Very ambient.

I didn't write any lyrics to this piece in particular, but... How about these instead? XD

I am terrified by the Indoctrinated. And who among us can claim so un-afflicted? Nexus of values. Mirrors and hollows neither and none more valid than those of the others sorry followers, but this is who we are, and as such we are merely and only indoctrinated. Ideas elevated to the positions of Reality.

I wrote those when I was considering the idea that people's beliefs, whether validated by evidence or not, can lead them to such passionate and/or fearful disagreement that they would harm, even kill, one another. Hence the opening line of "I am terrified of the Indoctrinated." Sometime belief steps outside and beyond reason, and once it's out there no amount of discussion can bring it back. Horrible atrocities can be committed in that mentality =\ But wonderful and amazing beauties are also created with less than sometimes rational belief too, so!

Part of me is definitely askeered for the day that people's beliefs once again lead them into a massive, world war. Until then, I be jammin'! ;p

Haha, thanks Hobo. Glad you liked it

I think your assessment is pretty much on the nose, lol. I have definitely been feeling a bit bewildered the past couple of years (more than usual anyway haha). It's like everything is just one enormous and gigantic question. Energizer Bunny style, just keeps going and going.

Yeah. I was afraid to play it at shows for like a year. My bassist hit it during practice with one of his machine heads and left a little dent so I got over it. I also got a LTD, not sure what model number but it's neck-through mahogany with duncans, grovers, and other cool #. Plus like 5 others but those are my favs. What genres do you play?

Nice, LTDs are good guitars too. I mostly play rock/metal, alternative and acoustic or electric instrumental stuff like this one. I've got a Laguna acoustic that has amazing crisp tone. Had never heard even heard of that brand before XD lol. What kinda stuff do you jam?

That's cool. Do you guys play shows or anything? I used to be in a hard rock band that did pretty decent here in Albuquerque. But you know how that all goes. It fell apart XD haha. Do you guys have anything up on the internet anywhere?

I loved your song.
Reminds me of Pink Floyd as well.

I felt as if it was a journey, of something travelling through space. It had an ominous feel mixed with ecitement about reaching its destination. So I think you're very talented in that your music can evoke feelings, that are unique to the listener.

Very nice smooth loops. I've been doing similar stuff with a Boss loop station. The hardest part for me is taking the loop in different directions without ending up with 10 layers of guitars. Or trying not to use the loop the entire song and bring elements of it back later on to keep it interesting. One of my fav bands that uses loops is From Monument to Masses.

My originals band doesn't but my cover band does like 3 gigs a month, average. Not to bad. Helps pay the bills. I have some really old/bad/dumb stuff online.

I will try to get my newer stuff up. It's AWESOME.

You ever think about doing an online band thing?

Oh wicked, I'll check it out. Yeah man I have, in fact I love the idea of making music with people I might never actually meet in person! Lol.

My last project was rock/metal-ish stuff. Here's a link if you're interested:

We haven't jammed together in about a year now though.

Thanks, Violet! It's awesome to hear what different responses people have to the music. It literally makes the uploading of it entirely worth it, lol. I'm glad you liked it

Thanks, Pipebomb! Do you upload any of your loop stuff to the web? I'd dig hearing it, if so. Sounds like you know of the tedium when using loopers ;p haha. The two things that bug me the most are 1) screwing up somewhere along the line and having to start ALL over at the beginning, and 2) winding up with some huge monstrosity of endless guitar tracks that don't even sound like "music" anymore. Haha. Fascinating way or thinking about writing music though, completely different than anything else I've messed with.

Frankly I don't think that many people give two hoots about 2012. After the movies came through and Hollywood made its money off this fad there really isn't much left. The "change" is the latest hoax being perpetrated by people still trying to make money off of 2012. After nothing happens there will be those that claim they ascended or are vibrating at a higher harmonic or some other oddball claims until someone points at them and says "the emperor is naked." Then the real change occurs - a new hoax to bilk people out of their beer money.

That project you had on youtube was really good. The guy screaming was the only iffy thing I heard. It was just cuz he was screaming quietly so it didn't have power behind it. Other than that, awesome.
