The social-networking giant Facebook has been caught red-handed in a secret smear campaign against industry rival Google, FoxNews.com has confirmed.

According to a report from The Daily Beast Wednesday night, Facebook hired leading public-relations firm Burson-Marsteller to “pitch anti-Google stories to newspapers, urging them to investigate claims that Google was invading people’s privacy.”

Well as always companies caught spreading lies. BUt this time it's about another company. Guess they didn't get the memo they are suppose to be working together to get all our personal data. They can't go around outing each other for dirty tactics. The only thing that matters is the bottom line. Both these companies should be ashamed of using the power they wield to do mostly evil

Of course Google invades privacy, who doesn't ? Hell even lone hackers can and do it.

Facebook is not safer.

Here is the deal. Every single thing you put online, its there for all to see. Sure you can hide it or encrypt it, but that won't stop any professionals. Also, kids in their basement in this respect are quasi-professionals.

I'm so glad you've brought this up JBA2848, in fact it deserves it's own post - my niece (just finishing 8th grade) had to go through a school seminar on online privacy and the security consultant speaking to them told them flat out, that even private pages on Facebook can be viewed by companies that ask for that information. Keep in mind a lot of companies have also bought into Facebook (Goldman Sachs just bought $200 million worth of shares) which guarantees them access to EVERYTHING you ever say or do on Facebook.

You should be worried about your privacy with Google.
But you should be very, VERY, worried about your privacy with Facebook.

Ha funny they are arguing over this they BOTH invade your privacy.

I get asked more personal questions accessing FB than I do with my google account.

Why do FB need me to name the computer I am accessing FB from? WHY! Why is it ANY of their business.
