Right I am fed up with this stupid idea that Osama Bin Laden was on Kidney Dialysis and it was this that killed him. According to the ATS survey on this more than half of you think he died of natural causes this is untrue and as I will show Bin Laden was not on Dialysis and just settle this argument once and for all look at each of the two main claim’s in turn.

CIA MEETS BIN LADEN whilst in hospital receiving Kidney Dialysis.

This is the most common one it came about after a French news paper “Le Figaro” published an article claiming that the CIA had met Bin Laden when he was in hospital. This article was picked up my most of the mainstream media mostly because of the CIA accusation which was soon dismissed however the kidney dialysis claim became a popular urban myth. The news paper speculated that the reason he was in hospital was because he had kidney problems saying that:

As early as March, 2000, 'Asia Week,' published in Hong Kong, expressed concern for bin Laden's health, describing a serious medical problem that could put his life in danger because of "a kidney infection that is propagating itself to the liver and requires specialized treatment According to authorized sources, bin Laden had mobile dialysis equipment shipped to his hideout in Kandahar in the first part of 2000”

CIA agent ALLEGEDLY met Bin Laden in July

Let’s put aside the CIA claim for a moment, what of this Asia Week article about possible kidney problem and the claim that he had needed dialysis form around 2000. The first problem is that “Asia week” magazine no longer runs however we do know form Le Figaro that the Article was about his health. So the next thing to do is find out where this might have came from, well I done some digging and found a interview done with Bin Laden in Time magazine in 1999 that appears to be a good contender for the source of the Asia times article, the article said that

“During Yusufzai's late-night conversation with bin Laden, the man the U.S. calls Public Enemy Number One appeared to be in good health, though he admitted to a sore throat and a bad back. He continually sipped water from a cup, and Yusufzai caught him on videotape walking with the aid of a stick “

Wrath of God

However according to another website:

A journalist who visited bin Laden's camp in the 1990s reported camp members saying that bin Laden had a kidney problem requiring him to drink large amounts of water. The journalist witnessed bin Laden constantly sipping water and green tea in the time they spent together

Health & Medical History of Osama bin Laden

Seems like the same guy to me

For this claim that “he continually sipped water” we have he had a urine problem then according to Asia week he has a kidney problem then we get the other claim about kidney dialysis form “authorised sources”. The only authorised source that I can see a journalist noting that he drank lots of water and concluded he had a kidney problem, it’s hardly like his personal physician told the news paper about the status of Bin Laden’s kidney functions. This interview was done in January 1999 when he was healthy, then according to these “authorised” sources he was having Dialysis equipment shipped to his hide out in early 2000 so in what could be between 6 months and 12 months Bin Laden developed kidney failure but other than the Le Figaro article we have no other sources to confirm this. Just one source and a journalist stating Bin Laden drinks allot of water but was otherwise healthy despite sore back and throat.

Now what else is wrong with the Le Figaro article how about this for a glaring problem in 1999 Bin Laden was wanted for the 1998 Embassy bombings he was public enemy number one, Clinton had tried to kill him. Yet the CIA sent a guy who was apparently well known in Dubai to go visit Bin Laden as he was in an American hospital. Why would Bin Laden go to a American hospital if he was public enemy number one it would be suicide. Then why would a known CIA agent go visit him with such a public audience it just does not add up. The only conclusion can be that Le Figaro published rubbish in their article, that they were grossly mistaken in what they published. It would appear that he was not even in the hospital when the paper claimed he was according to another interview with Bin Laden when asked catergoricly about the accusations in the Dubai hospital Bin Laden responded.

“My kidneys are all right. I did not go to Dubai last year..... All this is false.”

Osama debunks a myth

Pervez Musharraf : “I think now, frankly, he is dead for the reason he is a patient, he is a kidney patient” CNN 2002.

This was a interesting claim on face value it has the solid backing of a statesman. First problem is that by his own addition this was wrong, he said this in 2002. In 2002 he though Bin Laden was dead however he now admits that this probably isn’t true as Bin Laden he accepts that Bin Laden was killed on the 1st of may. However this article from the Washington post really should just put the whole argument to rest. The post stated that:

In December 2004, when Gen. Musharraf again sat down with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, he all but reversed himself. No medical report has been produced that shows bin Laden is on dialysis. No reporter who has actually met bin Laden has seen the archterrorist hooked up to a dialysis machine or heard him talk about it. Robert Fisk, the only Western journalist to interview bin Laden three times, makes no mention of dialysis.

Peter Bergen led a CNN team into Afghanistan to interview bin Laden in 1997. Bin Laden appeared healthy and strong; neither the reporters nor bin Laden mentioned dialysis or kidney trouble. Even bin Laden’s longtime associates dispute the kidney ailment meme. Saudi newspaper editor Khaled Batarfi has known bin Laden for two decades, ever since the two were neighbors in the Saudi port city of Jeddah. He told the Sunday Tasmanian, an Australian newspaper, that bin Laden “does not suffer from kidney disease.”
Foreign government officials who have met bin Laden also insist that he has no problems with his kidneys. Bin Laden lived in Sudan from 1991 to May 1996. I interviewed political leaders and intelligence officials there who knew him. Gutbi al-Mahdi, Sudan’s former intelligence chief, told me bin Laden had no health problems during his time in Sudan. In fact, every Sudanese I spoke with denied that bin Laden had any health problems, let alone a kidney ailment requiring dialysis.

The article goes on to say in regards to Bin Laden’s personal doctor

Dr. Amer Aziz, a British citizen born in Pakistan, was interrogated by eight CIA and FBI agents, as well as by Pakistani intelligence officers. Strongly sympathetic to radical Islam, Aziz had treated bin Laden for years. He reportedly admitted to visiting bin Laden after the September 11 attacks. Upon his release, he talked freely to Paul Haven of the Associated Press in November 2002. The doctor said he had given bin Laden a “complete physical” in 1999 and treated him for back injuries after bin Laden was thrown from a horse. “His kidneys were fine,” the doctor told Mr. Haven. He said “If you’re on dialysis, you have a special look. I didn’t see any of that,” and added that bin Laden “was walking. He was healthy.” Aziz was emphatic: “I did not see any evidence of kidney disease; I didn’t see any evidence of dialysis.” Aziz later discussed the dialysis issue with the New York Times. “When I hear these reports, I laugh

Osama Bin Laden wasn't on kidney dialysis - but he did need an herbal impotence drug

Osama Bin Laden wasn't on kidney dialysis, took herbal Viagra Read more: www.nydailynews.com... 1M9oQ5sjB

Bin Laden's Medicine Cabinet - soldiers found sunflower oil, eye drops, antiseptic nasal spray, petroleum jelly, and olive oil. When asked whether its contents may point to any health problem, Katzman said "I don't think so. I have.. any person who appears in this show.. has these things in their medicine cabinet." He was fairly sure that the contents of the medicine cabinet do not tell us anything about his state of health.

Did Osama Bin Laden Have Health Problem

Emmmmm no dialysis...... just wanted to point that out.

oh and....

Two senior U.S. officials who have seen the bin Laden material note that it puts to rest the rumor that the al-Qaida leader needs dialysis for a kidney disorder.

CIA is looking for a few good doctors

Want some more...... OK!

Despite the fact that we have all been hearing about his kidney problems and the need for dialysis, according to the intelligence people I've talked to in Washington, there was no evidence of a dialysis machine in the compound where he was found," said Mary Anne Weaver, author of "Pakistan: Deep Inside the World's Most Frightening State."

"Had he been in dialysis, it's possible they could have caught him earlier," said Kenneth Katzman, a Congressional Research Service expert on Afghanistan. "He would have needed equipment and changes of parts."

Good job putting together a solid rebuttal to one of the bigger inaccuracies to the Bin Laden story being perpetuated by the self declared "enlightened".

I am glad too see I am not the only member who was somewhat embarrassed for ATS by the recent Bin Laden poll results.

Unfortunately your post invalidates a closely held core belief to the those same "open minded" people and will go largely ignored.

Regardless, a few of us reading along are more interested in facts than conjecture and appreciate your efforts.

Thank you for your positive feedback. I think the reason this thread has had so few responses can be clearly identified by the recent ATS survey, over half believe Bin Laden died of natural causes, most of them probably dialysis and this thread has put up a good challenge to their fictitious belief.

nice to see some rational thought..
although this is a conspiracy site, it still amazes me how people can just accept rumors as truth..

Slayer69 posted a video in his thread that also debunks Osama Bin Laden having kidney problems. The video features the doctor who would be called upon to treat OBL or other Al-Quida members on occasion. He flat out denies there were any problems with OBL's kidneys.

With him being dead?

While I don't believe the official fairy tale of how this went down...I do believe he is dead, as I simply can't fathom them taking that risk otherwise.
