I'm currently staying in Taiwan and just wanted to share this video. A tornado appeared in the middle of the city and lasted for a few minutes. I did not film this video or any of the others on Youtube (there are several). I was in the northern part of the city and it was overcast but only a few drops of rain fell. This was on the news when i got home, just now..

Check it out.

Is it just me or did that twister seem stationary?

I'm told tornadoes are pretty uncommon on the northern part of the island where Taipei is. And having one appear right in the city is unheard of.

How very odd that the tornado was stationary the entire time. I've never seen a tornado do that. Must have been scary for those on the ground and in the nearby apartment buildings. How common are tornados in Taiwan?

Short article here mentions flipped cars. I haven't seen or heard anything about injuries. Nothing too serious, I believe.

Thanks.
That is great footage and yet Scary too.
Nature can be a violent yet at the same time can be such a magnificent thing to watch. This was yet another time nature's beauty has lead to destruction.
But to me it still make's nature an awe inspiring thing to watch and marvel at.

I hope no people were hurt.

I'm no expert, but it is moving. I can see why you think it looks stationary though.

If you watch the video from the beginning again and pay close attention to the first building in the distance on the tornados right. You notice that at the start it's quite far away from that building, as the video continues, it gets closer to it. Almost engulfing it at one point.
